How to remove the...

Is there a way to remove the enamel from my ASE? These are the colorized ASE you see pop us every now and then.
How can I remove the red. white and blue emamel from the coin without damaging it?

    Try a soak in acetone.

    That means he agrees.

I agree as well. Be careful - use acetone very carefully - follow directions on the can.

    I agree, too.

You may have to swap out the acetone a few times.
Do it in a well-ventilated area in a glass or metal container (no styrofoam!)

That's asking a lot of acetone. It's a big job and you'll probably need to gently help it along between lengthy dips.

    Acetone is the right approach.

I would just sell the colorized ASE. It's worth about $1 to $2 less than the non-colorized one, and that difference isn't enough to make me do all that work. Just my opinion, though.

You'll use more than $2 worth of acetone.

Lengthy job... acetone will work. As mentioned, change it often and use the pure stuff. Rinsing will be critical... alcohol several times and hot water following that .... much easier to sell and buy a non-colorized ASE. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

I had some and just sold them to a local dealer....got spot for them and was happy.
And, this was back when spot was ~$40

I'd keep it as is and just put it away. It's still got an ounce of silver in it.
