When were these older coin holders used?
Does anyone know anything about these holders? They held two each of1951, 1952 and 1953 proof sets. Were they used before that time? Who made them, etc?
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

<< <i>They look like Waite Raymond holders except that all of those I have seen were tan, not blue. >>
Thanks. These are black.

But then again, of the 3-4 sets I've bought in these, they frequently have contained very nice coins, if not impaired by the holder themselves.
I'd guess mine are from the 50's or 60's but the coins are Chinese ancients, so I can't go by that.

I think holders like that were first sold in the 1930's. They continued to be available into the 60's or 70's but were not used much during that later period. Look for early copies of the Numismatic Scrapbook. Ads for that type of holder were often seen in that publication.
