Certified mail (priority) really slow now or am I in trouble?

I had a coin sent to me from a dealer in California (to Colorado) a week ago. It's still a no show even though it was sent certified, priority mail. Should I be worried?

It's Christmas time - that is one thing slowing it down. And if certified is like registered where everyone who touches it has to sign for it and transfer it along - that is another thing slowing it down.

I never could figure out the difference between "Certified" and "Signature Required" . They both require a signature to be on record but I guess Certified gets you a green postcard as evidence....

It should travel in the same time frame as Priority....I would check the status online if you have the confirmation number

I just sent a package from Ca to Michigan Tuesday and it arrived Thursday, although a notice was left for the recipient.

It was sent using Priority, with Signature Confirmation and $950 insurance, but not Certified or Registered.

Unfortunately, the tracking number that I was given isn't really meant to be used by customers and gives no information on the USPS site. I guess it's just for their internal purposes.

I had a certified priority package take a week to get delivered to me from a town about 3 hours away, and this was not during Christmastime. Everything has been backed up for the past 2 weeks. I'd give it until at least next Thursday and then check a little further. The PO is closed Monday.

Actually the green postcard [return receipt requested] costs extra. Certified only provides a means of proof of delivery. There is no guarantee of delivery. To what extent it is trackable between point of sending and destination, I'm not sure.

I wouldn't be worried, I'd be scared.

If sent registered priority, week-10 days is normal. When it comes to registered, priority is only an automatic pricing structure because of weight and does not add any speed to a normally slow registered shipment.

I think right now, mail delivery times are random. I sent a priority package from MD to Seattle (8 days) and a registered one to Omaha (4 days), the opposite of what I expected.

Its the holidays, mail gets delayed all the time. Well, it can be random too but for the most part any items shipped after the 2nd week of December can get delayed. 10 business days can be expected even for Priority mail

Holiday mail slowness. I just received a small parcel yesterday that was sent Priority from Topeka, KS on December 14th.

No way. It usually takes 10 business days during non-christmas time. Now, I would plan for 14+ business days

When everyone gets on the freeway at the same time things slow down. I wouldn't be worried yet and give it a few more days.

I had a Priority package from Colorado to Ohio that just took 8 days. So Priority in some cases is VERY slow currently.

Thanks everyone...I'm a bit relieved that I shouldn't start my real worrying yet. I can already feel more of my hair graying!

Too early to be concerned i think as well , i sent some gold using this mailing method this month and it took 8 or 9 days to get from Pa to Ca.
