I had a buyer, buy a 2011-P PR70 on ebay for $850 about 2 weeks ago, my auction states no returns on PCGS Graded coins. He gets the coin and claims that the holder has a slight indentation in the holder, the coin is perfectly fine.
"Hi, There is a little indentation on the back of the case. It is right in the mirrored PCGS area.. I didnt see it at first, but if you
hit the light just right it shows. For this kind of money, it should be perfect, just like ms70 is perfect. I want to return it..

I never noticed this and he didn't at first either.
my first message stated that the auction states no returns and he complains it's not perfect, so I offer to exchange it, that doesnt work for him ( Prices are dropping since his purchase and wants a refund)
Files claim against me, claiming it's damaged an it really effects the value, and other complete bs. I stated my case, no returns, but will exchange and how prices are changing. they take 5 days and I ask ebay to get pictures, so they extend the claim deadline for 5 more days, they are still waiting for pictures.
Tonight I get tired of it and tell the buyer to return the coin and I will refund and he sends me this crap back
"That might have worked last week. Ebay wants pictures of the back of the holder.My camera is broken and a friend is coming over to take the pictures. I have alot of time invested in this, might as well follow it thru to the end. Who knows you might change your mind again"
So now I expect to lose the claim and Hope I dont get an empty box back. after ebay tells him to send it back anyways ?

When the prices head south, as they frequently do following a really hot time, experienced ebay buyers know they have an out.
I may lose out on some money by not flipping into the hotness, but waiting it out, but I seldom have the issues that others do.
I prefer flipping hot items in person or to board members who know what they are doing and are honorable.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Interestingly, eBay may decide that extremely minor "damage" to the holder does not materially affect the item purchased and side with you ... there is always hope!

I just said return.
Also, sold a 2000 proof set for all of 7 dollars. Buyer said the box was torn and taped, and this was not described in the auction. (the box was not torn and taped)
Grrrrr, I refunded his money and said merry Christmas!

I purposely dragged my feet getting mine graded to help avoid the craze. I like selling without all the added drama. It may cost some money but it is much healthier.
PS That does NOT just happen on ebay. I'd say it might happen more often on my off-ebay sales.

no return policy on e-bay = return if the price goes down, or you change your mind (you just say not as described..it's pretty simple)

I had a buyer pay a premium for $10,000 worth of 2008-W $10 gold MS70s and then the price settled back to about $1500 each. I think he paid about $1700 each. A friend told him he paid too much. I told him my coins are guaranteed against almost everything except price fluctuations. He filed a claim. I showed paypal the current ebay auctions for $200 less and that he just wanted to pick them up cheaper now and they sided with me and told him to keep them. Play your cards right and the seller can win.

I betting the slab issue is extremely minor.

But it's not an indentation, he used a small drill bit to drill into the pcgs reflective logo on the back, as to just hit the plastic enough to leave a nice little perfectly round hole.
For the market that ebay gives though, something like this every once in a while is nothing. In my opinion.
I have had many "issues" with ebay, but I still don't bash them. I make a ton of money that I couldn't make if it wasn't because of ebay.
People will always be people and people are typically unreasonable.

If he seeks to mediate it, there is an easy solution: offer a partial refund for the $10 (?) that PCGS charges to reholder the coin. I wouldn't offer him anything more, and I think eBay will rule in your favor.

A quick pic of the hole to see what ebay agrees with w/out a pic, would be helpful for all of us modern slab sellers. Every little bit helps.
He made the claim of an indentation, ebay requested picks, so he must of had to create one

Well, you may have set yourself up by not including a pic of the reverse with the original listing, ebay had nothing to compare it to. However, this guy went way too far....damaging your coin to proceed with his fraud claim...Good grief....
