Dimeman's New Years Resolution...

DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭

After corresponding with Drunner and reading his post and the PM I got from him, which was the same as the post, I decided to post this New Years Resolution.

As of today I will no longer make any negative reply's to ANY post. I may not agree or not understand, but never negative!

So, everyone keep on collecting whatever you like weather it is coins or slabs or coin boards or whatever. I'm sure that while I don't understand the slab thing.........that most of you don't understand my dime thing. And that's what it is all about. If we all went after the same thing it would be boring and expensive wouldn't it.

I really do enjoy these boards and have met some good friends. And probably made some enemy's, which I hope can be fixed.

So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you and if you make it to the FUN show look me up.

There have been plenty of times in the past I "didn't understand" somebody's collecting thing ... but I always looked at it as an opportunity to learn about a new thing. On more than one occasion, I had become a convert! The "weirder" our collecting interests, the more we collectively learn. image

I believe that to be an excellent change. I have never believed in New Year's resolutions - rather, if it is worth doing, do it right away. However, just as different folks collect different things, resolutions work for some, and that is fine. You do not care for collecting bullion, and I do not understand the fascination with tarnish. To each his own... Reading about the different collecting habits here on the forum has been very informative for me.. even though I may not collect in that particular area. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Dimeman... Cheers, RickO

Well, that's a damn stupid resolution. image

    Sorry, pal. Just kidding. image

I think negative has its place so long as you aren't negative about individuals who believe they are doing the right thing. Negative
is fine for ideas and practices. It's OK for politicians.

It's a fine line and even when it comes to insulting people I believe in live and let live.

    Merry Christmas.

    And happy new year...

I personally set the same resolution last January. After about a year I can tell you it is more fun to open up the forums knowing there won't be any spiteful PMs waiting for you.
I've been tempted a couple of times to resort to the negative- and I'm sure if my posts were screened looking for any hints or signs of such an example may be located, but overall
it's refreshing and I tip my cap to you Dimeman for your resolute determination.

Even RickO couldn't get me to lash out!

If Romo hits the wide open Austin Eli never gets the ball back....game over!

Yes, Eli is very good, but Romo blew that game.

    Dimeman,
I've found your posts to be negative and called you out on it. I applaud you for this thread and I, for one, will give you some slack if you occasionally fall back. Good for you.

We are all happier when we are positive. I too will focus on being more positive.

    Merry Christmas,

    Dimeman,

You do not always have to be positive!
Nothing wrong with admitting that something doesn't work for you or that you do not agree with something.

On the other hand, you can offer gentle constructive commentary as needed.

Otherwise we will think you agree with everyone and everything. LOL.

DIMEMAN, I'm pretty new here and you've been nothing but nice to me. For all I know it's not you, it's THEM! ;-)

Just kidding, I applaud you for this, I've never seen this happen on a public forum. Way to go Dimeman and everyone else who foster a good environment like this.
