I was going to offer to send him a money order for $10,000 extra, then have him refund me the balance less $250 for his trouble. I would send him a confirmation of the check being sent on condition he overnight the coin at the same time. That is how the Craigslist scams work, right?

I was already surprised not to hear more of these "rare coin -- bargain price" listings.

The other possibility is ::

list rare coin @ bargain price.
ship empty box.
clean out and close accounts.
let buyer file a dispute to get their money back.
spend your new Christmas money courtesy of PayPal/eBay.
