Stuff inside PCGS holder?

Originally thought it was just bad grading but it might just be that when they holdered something they had stuff put inside. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me...

I got a 70 with shiny dot spots on it and the clear holder thingie not put in correctly so it looks like a dent. What is the shiny dot spots?

Also had another 70 coin with the shiny spots.

on my 69 I have black dots all over, not sure if it's on the holder or not but it doesn't move...

Has anyone had these issues before? And if so, how did you get it fixed? The guy I emailed said to pay $25.00 for guarantee resubmission (even though it was recent) on all 3 coins which would cost me $75.00 + 16.95 return shipping + $8.00 handling which makes me have to pay like $100.00 in which it should have been done correctly a 2 weeks ago when I got them back =

Sorry probably not best place to post but am curious if anyone had the same shiny spot in coins or the holder thingie was out of sync so it looked like a dent and how they dealt with it. Not really wanting to fork out another $100.00 if I don't have to. Thanks =)

They should make you repay. That is part of the guarantee.

Pics would certainly help us figure out just exactly what it is you are speaking about.

Spots on the coins? Problems with the slabs? A bit of both?

It has those spots too TheBigB but not that many ouch! Somehow it got graded a perfect 70 too lol.

Did you just submit it as the guarantee resubmission or just called them about it so they could reholder it etc.?

Those spots are on a coin I purchased on ebay and being returned now.

You might try to look at the coin under different angles of light to see if the spots are on the coin or just dust in the holder.

If they are reflective, then it is damage to the coin's surface.

I was asking about ebay people selling the same S coin and asked them to take a closer picture so I could see it. I noticed the same spots on their coins too and they are graded 70 as well....not trying to start something but shouldn't a MS70 be perfect without those marks?

I had an S MS69 that looked absolutely perfect (no idea why it was graded 69) and looked way better than these 70s =

Going to submit it as guaranteed submission.

Quick Question: What do you guys do if you get a coin that's 70 or 69 grade that doesn't look like that's what it should be? Guaranteed Resubmission?

Nose hairs?? In the slab?? Have the DNA checked... the grader could be identified and issued a nose hair trimmer. image Cheers, RickO

So you're saying that coin shouldn't grade 69? what should it grade?

Dumb question, was going to post some pictures of white hair inside one of the holders I have (looks kinda funny lol) and the 2 coins I have that has white shiny spot and black spots.

Was thinking about it, I was going to say they should be graded 68s but outside of that shiny spot or black spot, it's in perfect condition. Not sure if that would qualify as 68 or the 69 was accurate.

I sent in 5 silver eagle 25th anniversary sets and on the 2011-S coins only, all 5 of them had a varying degree of that spotting (small breaks in the frosting actually) on the reverse only. Some coins had just a few spots, others had several. All 5 of my coins graded MS69 and I thought that was the reason why as the coins are otherwise perfect. I have since seen other examples with similar issues in MS70 holders and I find that very disappointing.

they must be having some quality control issues...i got this slabbed early this year...an AGE with all kinds of debris sandwiched in the holder. it appears to be in between the coin and the slab...not on the coin itself. i can tell this because it changes position on the coin when i rotate the holder.you can see it reflect on the coin. hope this makes sense.

In referring to my PCGS Grading Guide for MS-69:

<< <i> it usually takes an intensive study of the surfaces to ascertain why the coin will not grade MS-70 >>

I think MS-68 would be quite generous. Do you find this piece to your liking?

=( well, looks like I'm going to be selling the coins back on eBay, but messed up since there is 3 shiny dots and it probably shouldn't even be a 70. Going to wait on the first 2 coins I sent for review and what they say before I sent that 2011-S MS70 coin in.

Just spent $78.00 or so getting 2 guarantee submissions just to ask them to fix what's inside (if the case it's just cleaning issue). I'll post when I get the coins back what they said and what they did but at this point the 2 coins I submitted:

    1) Has black marks all over the holder/coin (can't tell) 2011-S 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle First Strike Flag Label PCGS MS69
    2) Has some shiny spots 2011 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle First Strike Flag Label PCGS MS69

Hoping that it's just a simple clean and they will waive my $78.00ish dollars paying for return shipping, handling, guarantee submission request.

    I don't have a problem with it.

Folks who believe that they have a better eye than PCGS need to take advantage of the PCGS Grade Guarantee.
