m'lord............... I never cease to be amazed by some of the stories you tell and your seemingly wonderful tales of adventure growing up - - from living on a salboat, to treasure-hunting, etc... - - always fascinating stuff!

I wanted to follow-up on your other related giveaway thread where you discussed the rarity of Robertson vs Robert as a first vs surname............. how does Robertson compare to, say, ROBINSON as a first name in rarity - - like Robinson Crusoe?

Thanks, and keep those stories coming!

Thanks for the kind words. image

I've seen more Robinsons (as a first name) than Robertsons. But neither is especially common anymore.

I had a close childhood friend who was also a Rob, but his first name was Robinson, so he didn't like being called Robert, either. In my case it's just a nitpick, since Robert is part of my name. I just tend to prefer people go long (Robertson) or go short (Rob), but not in between (Robert).

I guess my aversion to being called Robert goes back to a grade school teacher who used to screech "ROBERRRRRRT!" at me. I'd pretend not to understand, since that's technically not my name. (Yeah. That didn't work any better then than it does now.)

PS- as to living on a sailboat, you can have that. A lot of it sucked. Island hopping in the Bahamas was nice, though. Generally speaking, living aboard a boat is fine if you're a multizillionaire on a huge yacht with a full crew, but not so hot if you're part of a family of four living on a forty-foot trimaran and living on brown rice and bean sprouts. (To this day, if I get a single alfalfa sprout in a salad, I can taste it, and if I get more than one, I'll gag. Same for my sister.)
