The PAN show (a state Show) has had there show on the same dates for over twenty years now.
Why is it that the ANA is steping on my show knowingly?
The ANA was a guest at our last May show to promote the ANA show in Pittsburgh, so they know first hand of the dates.
This is in NO way helping the coin collecting Hobby as the ANA claimes to do.
A number of the PAN dealers have to make the choice, and it is a hard choice to make since the ANA can and may hold it against them for missing a show. (Star rating).

One of the ANA govenors posts here on a regular basis and I'd like to hear why the ANA would do this. I can't believe they don't check for schedule conflicts with other major coin shows.

Because they can and nobody seems to want to put in the effort it would take to stand up to them. I wish someone would.
Are you a member of the PAN?
There are coin shows, somewhere, every weekend in the summer and the only way to avoid all conflicts is to not have a show. Last year, there was a conflict with the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association (or whatever) coin show, and for that reason, many of the southeastern dealers did not attend the ANA. Next year, Pittsburgh. The following year, who knows?

I think the OP is referring to the more recently formed ANA late-fall coin show. Plus, isn't PAN one of the larger coin shows held every year?

Maybe the ANA is trying to get back at the PAN and the 'Burgh for a lousy show.
It seems like people complain, then promptly pay their dues each year anyway. I don't get it.
The convention center likely was difficult, but I think this is another reason Mr. Shepherd is no longer with the organization. The ANA was trying to be a corporate entity, and is now returning to its true, nonprofit roots it would seem.

Don't look at me...I've never even been to a PAN coin show. They don't seem to advertise the show dates far enough in advance.
Coin shows happen virtually every week and once in a while a show or two will get stepped on. Schedule conflicts shouldn't happen if they can be avoided but sometimes they can't.

It is currently an up and comming show getting better every year.

FREE parking

Exhibits for adults
Top Dealers so you can get everything from junk to high grade uncs.
Supply dealer
book dealer
reasonable hotel rates
great places to eat with out going broke.

Wouldn't that be kinda like FUN? If so, I think that it's in poor taste for the ANA to schedule a show during the same time frame. Just like I thought it was in poor taste for Whitman to schedule a show on top of the Santa Clara Coin Show.

That wasn't my point. The point is, business is business. He threw out comps for the ANA, but they treat him like a competitor. So, that should be the last free table they get at his show, or he didn't learn the lesson properly.
I do beleave that the ANA is missing the boat with it's spring and fall show. I thought that both shows were to be with a state show at the state show site. The state show had room for a nice area for the ANA. I think that the state clubs should run the bourse floor and the ANA helps with the show not run it. What is going on now is not the best for anyone. That is why I did not come to the last fall show. I think that Monroeville is a great place for a show. And I will see you in May of 2012.

I understand the "you can't schedule around EVERY show" argument, but an established statewide show that hasn't changed dates in a couple decades?
Were I the show chair, I'd fire them off an irate email.

I was looking forward to the ANA show but changed my mind last minute because of parking and admission , the money it would cost I can buy a nice coin .. I'm sticking with Pat and the PAN show !
