So do you carry around a different one each day of the week or all of them together? Seems like a lot of loose change to carry around all the time. Interesting seeing how those 09 Lincolns will look in a few years.

I just started carrying a 1871-S half dollar in VF-20 that has been cleaned and has some light pitting. I want to experiment with it and see how long it takes to wear the cleaning look off , if it does at all.

My 7 pocket pieces go everywhere I go, never leave home without them.

About 4 years of being rattled around with the other 6.

Retired pocket piece, IMO looks better with a little wear.

Here's mine, it picked up a little color when it was in a leather wallet for a few years. Had it with me everywhere for about 7 years I think.

    - I carry them all only during work. I work midnight shift so there is not a lot of moving around. I do not carry them everywhere outside of work, but I pay little attention to them as they do not bother me being in my pockets.

    - The zinc is showing through. They are wearing very fast. I though it would be neat to see new coins being heavily worn.

    - The coin dollar is the durable. I also carry one proof clad half and one silver proof half. I started the clad half the same day as the pres dollar and the dollar has less wear. Nice example of how coin dollars are durable and can take a daily pounding. A paper dollar carried daily in that same pocket would be nothing more than dust now.

Very cool! I too like the look of the circulated moderns.

Morgansforever, your silver dollars look like beach glass!

I'm curious to see how the 2010 Union Shield cents age over the years. To me they have the look of an old-fashioned type design, like a two-cent piece. I like them, and I think they'll have a nice vintage look and feel once they get some legs.

Actually, I added a pair of union shields to my pockets about two months ago. They're already starting to take on a brownish color. The only problem is I think the zinc will wear them down quickly just like the 2009s I have, but looking at a typical 15-20 year old cent, they will look pretty niced with some age.

On Sunday I went to a local B&M with my 7 year old. The dealer had a tray of BU 2009 lincolns on the counter and he gave my son a couple of them. I told him he should treat them as his lucky pennies and hold on to them (while he shows a passing interest in coins, he doesn't really have any interest in collecting yet). Apparently, he took my advice literally, as I noticed he was constantly handling them.

This morning (3 days after he got them as BU coins) I asked if he still had them, and he pulled them out of his pocket for me.

Apparently 3 days of my son handling a coin can simulate a year's worth of wear! If there were enough people that would pay a premium for that pocketpiece look, I think he could go into business. I'm actually tempted to give him a run of the presidential dollars, because I really like the look of the worn one from the OP. Sadly, I think they would get spent at the school cafeteria before they show any significant wear.
