Which Seated Lady would you choose?

breakdownbreakdown Posts: 2,409 ✭✭✭✭✭
Todd imaged another group of coins for me at Baltimore and in a few of them, Liberty is not walking toward the sun (my usual favorite pose) but is instead taking a break and seated. The toning in the three coins is quite different. Of these three looks, which do you prefer (if any)? Todd is partial to one and I am to one also. I'll weigh in later.

First, an 1880 quarter:

Next, an 1841-O half:

Finally, a dime:

All thoughts appreciated.

I like them all. I like the subtle color with appears to be above average luster on the dime.

    I like the half.

Something about the toning on the quarter strikes me as odd....

    Should have been a poll.

I'd enjoy looking at the quarter most often. But I'd rather have thee half.

    All three are nice.

From pix, I'd take the quarter.

In hand, I suspect the half dollar is best.

Personally I like the dime but choose the one that fits your eye the best. It's easy for me to tell you which one to purchase because I don't have to live with it. My other option would be buy all three but I'm not familiar with the prices on the coins. But regardless of which one you select you will have a beautiful coin and a keeper.

Wouldn't it be grand if there were no more serious problems in the world than which of three coins to choose.

Good luck and I see this as a win win.

I don't really care for the toning on #2 but #1 and #3 are both amazing. I personally like larger coins though so I would select #1.

Thanks for all the comments. I like them all but am partial to the quarter. The way the toning hugs the periphery and the devices stand out combine to make the coin pop in hand. I do think the dark toning is not for everyone (see Ankur's comments) and am not surprised that the half caught the eye of the most.

I do not care for the toning breaks on the half, but otherwise, that would have been my pick. It's got nice colors. Too bad it isn't more evenly toned. Still a heckuva coin, if you decide that's the one.

Edit to add: I guess if you held a gun to me and MADE me choose just ONE, I would go with the quarter. The dime has sweet toning, too, though.

i know nothing about the values of any of these...based solely on the photos and nothing else...i would pick number 1. that is a cool looking coin! number 3 was a close second pick. they are all three very nice.

I would have to pick the seated quarter as not only is the 1880 a low mintage date (14,955) it also has some great toning and sits in a PCGS MS-67 holder.
Not many seated coins of any denomination in 67 holders so yes it is a very rare coin. I also don't like the gaps in toning on the half along the rim.

oh my ... tough choice really

I think I would like the quarter the best overall, as I truely believe the colors would be better in hand, and appears to be a monster of a coin. I also like the deep purple/blue that I suspect it is

That said, the half is appealing (although not a "look" I would generally go after) and the dime is quite appealing (probably the "look" that more buyers would love)
