21 months ago I had a coin book idea.

And now its at the end of the dream. First 2 copies of the book printed. One is for Washington DC ( being mailed Tuesday ) (for the copyright ) and one is my final proof reading copy to make any last corrections. This really does look like it will finally happen. Here's a few pictures of the final products with the binding.

Very cool! Looks like it will be a great reference. Congrats!! Getting a book from idea to print ready is incredibly time consuming and difficult as anyone who has tried can attest to.

When the time is right there may be a post on the BTS about it with a code for a discount image . I cant start to count how many 20 hrs days went into this. between volunteer squad, then paid ems to come home to do the book. turned into alot of 7am-3am nights. Now the 2nd edition is already being added to ( just updating with new material on top of the old. ) I hope to have more new non cent additions to help even out the book. BUT we will see what i can scrub up. Takes alot of work to do this. and I can see why I should have applied for the government grant first to write the book. I think price wise a CD release might be best. Full color copies will more than likely be out of most collector's comfort zone ( around $72 a copy). But since die cracks and chips arent as collectible YET, I am working on keeping the price at $20 or less. but Autographed copies here could be a good idea. I know one or 2 people here helped me with donations to the book and are getting a free copy. image

I agree! I really like the layout!

You should do a website so new listings can be added as you find them. That was one reason I did Franklin varieties as a website as opposed to a book.

TwoSides2aCoin -- I guess in a way you were . lol. but a tiny author in a big coin pond.

The coin and currency nerds are always my group. Book nerds like to read to many things that dont hold my interest. Coins and currency is where I belong.

It is cool that it is at this point. one more proof reading and the copyright then its off for a ISBN or out to publishers. I might just do it all inhouse with the publishing if i can figure out what i need to do. ( I bought a book on the subject ). CD based sales might be the most cost effective way to produce this. Black and white editions can be done for 16.00 but I think at $20+ a copy even at a coin show would be hard to sell on a niche that the hobby over looks right now. CD will cut the cost and get it out there for everyone to buy and bring an open mind to the party. The color copy in print was $71 at staples. Another reason why CD with PDF's might be the way to go. Well see. I gotta look at the best way to do it and see what happens. Ill update you guys and gals on a release date and all If anyone knows of coin based publishers that might be interested in this work or you think might be in the area of publishing let me know. Im thinking of the publishers who do the red book and see how that goes.

Thanks to everyone's support through this process.

Final proof reading happening in early Jan 2012 and gonna see how long this takes. ( I outsourced this to someone non-bias and fresh eyes) .My lot of 4.400 coins are in the process of being done during this time period. I hope to have at least 2,000 new examples ( doubling the (2nd edition of) book by itself ) by April 2012.
