eBay strikes again yadda yadda

I just got an email from eBay saying that all bullion sales must have a tracking number uploaded within two days of the auction ending. It is so nice to see them trying to control sellers even more.

That doesn't seem like a huge deal.

Ask them to define bullion. image

If you print shipping from paypal, tracking number is automatically entered into paypal and ebay details. If you purchase postage elsewhere, you can manually enter tracking number into paypal and it will automatically show up in ebay.

New rule could pose a problem for pre-sellers.

One way to avoid the issue is to list in categories other than bullion. That might be what triggers their email.

Kudos to eBay...it's about time. BTW, does it take you more than 2 days to mail out your items after you get paid? Personally they should insist within 24 hrs after a seller of bullion gets his money. All you have to do is click on "Print Shipping label" ... print your label through eBay and they have their tracking #.

Shouldn't sellers be doing this anyway?

It's obvious that this category of item is causing problems for eBay.

I doubt that the eMail actually read that tracking had to be uploaded within two days of the "auction ending".

I also don't think it's a big deal, and you would lose that bet.

Or even if it takes 3 days to pay with PayPal? You can get whacked by eBay before you are able to even think about filing a NPB report on someone who's trying to back out of buying high.

Care to actually post the actual email? Does it say "ended" or "when payment is received"?

There was a big time seller of bullion that recently went bad. I imagine it cost feepay a bundle...good. image

I get some satisfaction from the drubbing feepay took for forcing me to buy back P/N certified bullion coins in SNAD claims when metals dropped back in May.

I think it's much ado about nothing, provided eBay doesn't get mad at sellers if they're late if they're on vacation (I time my listings to end when that won't be a problem, but when someone pays a week late...) Anyway, the email is not clear as to when the countdown begins:

    Dear jkcoins,

Adding tracking to your shipment is one of the best ways to reassure buyers that their item is on the way - and to protect yourself in the event of an item not received claim. That's why, beginning December 5, []bsellers will be required to upload tracking information for all bullion orders within 2 days of their stated handling time for both Buy It Now and Auction-style listings.

Adding tracking information lets you and your buyer check the status of shipments at any time. That kind of reassurance is essential, especially for high value items like bullion. (Remember that in order for you to be fully protected, you must add signature confirmation on packages valued more than $250.)

Sellers who are consistently not uploading tracking may have future listings limited or blocked. You can upload tracking information directly to My eBay by using the "add tracking number" button or if you print shipping labels on eBay, the tracking or Delivery Confirmation number is automatically added to My eBay when it's available.

Thank you for selling on eBay.

    Sincerely,
    eBay Seller Team
