Let's see some SHIPS!
It's time for yet another picture threads, this time let's bring back the ship theme. Especially since I have a couple of new ships to post.
..something funky going on with the date on this one, I think it was recarved for whatever reason --

Here's one that brings "Beauty and the Beast" to mind, love the ship though --

...and a tiny ship on the reverse --

Not very pretty, a three-masted galleon
Possibly a locally minted dinhero in tin/pewter, Portuguese Malacca, mid 16th century

<< <i>I hadn't checked to see if it was a specific ship, but I bet your right. I really just bought it for the mermaid, but the ship is a nice bonus.
Compagnie Générale Transatlantique were her owners FB , i can see it on the medal , must be from around 1912 , i like that a lot
The mermaid appears to be the French version of Liberty seen on the coins of that period , Marianne i think they call her. What a fantastic piece.
"ll see your ship and raise you a lion
Love those jeton ships!
<< <i>That's a cool one, LM!
I've got ships to keep this one going for quite some time
They are all cool but I like this one and the Le Havre piece.
<< <i>Wow FB , do you know which ship that is ? I know a little about liners and without checking my facts i believe there were only ever 15 four funnel liners , the most famous of which was the Titanic.
Edited to add : You probably do know , thats the SS France without a doubt.
Did you know that Titanic and her 2 sisters only had four funnels for the look? The fourth funnel was a vent for the galleys and not connected to the boilers.

Interesting, didn't know that... I need to read up a bit, this is a very interesting area that I know very little about.
