A. Greed. I hate threads like this on forums that I frequent. Just leave and be done with it instead of announcing it and begging for sympathy or attention.
Then again, I suppose I shouldn't have clicked this thread since I had a general idea where it was going just from the title. Shame on me.
<< <i>you mean sometime early next year??? >>
No way. Early next year will be the first shock wave of early sealed box submitters complaining about the poor quality of the coins after receiving their submissions back from PCGS. February? Comparison of PCGS and NGC pops as they mature. March? Nope, first report of milk spots. April? People wondering how to prove the cost basis for their sets they flipped this year if PCGS didn't return the packing list with their submission. May? The mint rolls out their new, more robust and capable web site, picking the scabs on everyone who couldn't get through in the first 4 1/2 hours of the sale (news flash: the sets would have sold out in 1 hour with their new, improved website.)
See you in June!

I think it is the Precious Metals forum that you might be referring to, not sure though.

<< <i>I still disagree that this set should be classified as bullion. Granted, the coins themselves are bullion. What about these half cents, etc that people love..those are "just metal." >>
On the ASE it says 1 oz Fine Silver - $1. Which is it? It certainly isn't both! If it is $1 please show that they circulate as US Coins at their face $1....or show that they ever have! I think it is the former, 1 oz Fine Silver....as it says on the item. That is Bullion...meant for the Precious Metals Forum.
Please explain how you think these are actually US Coins. Thank you. I do have an open mind and am interested in understanding your thought process. In reference to your Half-Cent analogy....they did circulate as US Coins in the United States of America with a face value of one half cent. Not sure I get the comparison.

I tried bumping all the threads that were related to coins to the front over the ASE junk but there were just too many to keep up with.

ASE's are issued by the U.S. Mint, they are legal tender by law, and there is a denomination shown on the coin, so they are coins. I rest my case since this thread is getting

If you do not find the humor in the thread, Here is a forum where they take themsleves more seriously.

I believe the US MINT has put out spoons, dolls and things like that but I do not see us discussing them. The denomination on the coin means ZERO, it is a design element...or prove me wrong by selling me some at FACE plus shipping. I'll take them. They are not used in commerce, they are not intended for commerce and in face they say 1 oz Fine Silver on them! They are sold at a price 100% related to SPOT SILVER. They are sold as BULLION. They are sold as a PRECIOUS METAL Collectible with a pretty design.
Do you somehow disagree that they are sold IN DIRECT RELATION TO THE SPOT PRICE OF SILVER? Really?

Are 1964 and earlier 900 fine silver coins that are sold in bulk based on their melt value coins or bullion? Can't they be both?

The closest match would be the sports card forum, please take sports nonsense there!!!
At least the 25th Anniversary set was made at a U.S. mint.

I can only hope that in 7 more years someone will say this about me.
Lakesammman, maybe you can just drop in on say a bi-weekly basis and post some cool coins in a thread. I always enjoy what you have to show.
Nicest thing I've read in a long time - thanks.
I'll post my ASE's when they arrive!
Just kidding.......

Now you're just being a smartass. They are bullion but they can't "just" be seen as bullion. There is huge collector value here. Just because something is made out of .999 silver doesn't mean it HAS to be bullion.
<< <i>....until all the 25th hoopla and BS dies down. >>
Amen Bro! Seen some fools paying $200/oz for these crazy ASE's on flee bay. Fleebay will be flooded with these sets for many years to come. Extra 'rare' 68, 69 and 70's!

Since this is a PCGS Forum maybe we should go by what they say about the ASEs. DW calls them coins in the first sentence of this thread and also a few more times in the OP.
