Group Submission & Learning Experience?

Hi All,

I have been here for years and I can't recall this idea coming up? Has the board ever decided, deliberately as a group, to submit say 3 coins (silver, gold copper perhaps?)....post them here for discussion, pre-submission, and talk about the grade(s) expected, why, why not and all the factors that come into play (date, mint, strike, etc.)...we all have a lot of add to such a conversation and we might all learn a little something? The newer members can also watch the submission process and might appreciate it....and the board could pit itself, through polling, against the graders and see what the results are after said coins are submitted? Just an idea to help spread knowledge.

    It would be interesting.... but grading is very subjective. Statistically, the opinions would definitely form a bell curve, with the graders decisions likely in the subjective center. Cheers, RickO

    I remember years ago a few boardmembers did this. It might have been on the old boards, but it has been a L O N G time ago!

    I have heard rumors to that effect image I was not so interested in the graders opinions as much as I was interested in fostering discussion grading and all that goes into it. image
