<< <i>I SEE A PROBLEM WITH A 5 SEPARATE ORDER.....
The sets may be gone by the time you get back in line to order the second or third one///???? And 5 sets in separate boxes will not fit in most Safety Boxes. >>
I don't think that 100,000 sets will sell out that fast.
I think that it will take at least 12 hours if not more.
For that matter, just for kicks, assuming a 100K mintage (which could change) how long do you all think it will take to sell out???
<< <i>A sealed box of 5 could go for $5K. The 2006 unopened boxes were as high as $900 sealed with a 250K mintage. I distinctly remember madmarty selling his for $900. However, the 2006 20th Anniversary Set was a first of a kind set for the series. Nothing new about this set except the S minted coin. >>
Do you remember when relative to the start of sales that the sealed sets were bringing $900? Thanks!

10/27/2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set
Thanks for the update. The 27th it is! Depends on the final price, but I can see a 24hr sellout happening. That is, if they keep to the 100k number. There seemed to be some indication that they could strike more if they wanted. Or has that been debunked?

The official news release doesnt state that there will be a higher mintage than the 100,000/ The only thing that it states is that pricing may change. Here is a brief portion of it:
All five coins will be mounted in one custom-designed, highly polished, lacquered hardwood presentation case accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. United States Mint plans to produce up to 100,000 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Sets with a household order limit of 5 sets in effect.
Remember that the 20th Anniversary silver sets took 3-4 months to sell out. And they were selling for $150 or so on eBay when you could still get them from the Mint for $100! Yeesh!
<< <i>late May of '07 they hit their peak for sealed boxes of ten sets.. a wee bit over $9k.
can't remember the initial sell date, but i think it was October? (2006)
some were being resold shortly after for $150 a single set of three
i still think they will crash the servers and sell out in a day. >>
Thanks for the info!!
Looks like a 6 month hold will be best on these. I would expect them to peak out at the same time but, perhaps, not as much given the economy. That said, it the mintage is only 100K then the lower mintage may cancel out the economic effect.??
<< <i>Looks like a 6 month hold will be best on these. >>
I'm confused. As usual.
If the 20 year sets went on sale Oct. 2006, were minted @ 250K qty and took four months to sell out and the flip price peaked in May of 2007, why would the 25 year sets that go on sale in Oct 2011, minted up to a 100K qty and are expected to sell out far more quickly be a six month hold?
I'm going to buy five sets to flip, so I want to do the right thing and not sell too early or too late. I'm thinking the 25 year sets will have a quicker, shorter flip time frame, but I don't know.
If that set was a woman, I'd be drooling by now...in fact, I AM drooling right now!
And if it goes for anywhere in the neighborhood of $300 each...I'm not only backing up the truck...I'm driving the truck up on the sidewalk and through the plate glass window!
Expect a fully crashed Mint site that day. And given the enthusiasm here to buy multiple sets thru F&F networks I'm guessing these won't be as easy to acquire as everyone thinks. I'll predict pricing no where south of $350

Agreed, I love the look of that set. I am all in and I just flopped the nuts.

That's still illegal in some Southern states, isn't it?
Although, actually, with 100k mintage, I can't see these selling out for at least a couple of days. So maybe on Thursday night...
Or maybe more like 12:00:01...
Mine go to MCM if they want them.
you will be able to buy these easily in the first three days.

Agreed...and hey, crashing the Mint site (and then griping about it) is half the fun, isn't it?
