Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

I went down to my neighbor's garage this morning.

Now, my neighbor doesn't know I collect cards, but he's heard rumors. Rumors of wars. So he calls me down to his garage, and after he stopped pointing the sawed off shotgun at me, he says, in a long slow almost guttural drawl........."I wanna show you something"..........and he motions for me to come inside his garage.

There's a tarp covering up something in the corner. My curiosity is high. He pokes the tarp with the end of the shotgun, then he grabs it & lifts it up, to reveal...........

The most beautiful boxes of 1991 Donruss, 1988 Topps, 1990 Fleer, 1991 Skybox Basketball, & 1992 Playoff Football I have ever seen. At least 10 boxes of each.

I gasp. I struggle for breath. I want to throw up. He looks at me & says......"I ain't gonna let ya buy this, I just heard a rumor & thought I'd let ya see it.".

"uh, thanks", I mumble, as I slowly backpedal out of the garage before sprinting like Usain Bolt back to my house, where I am now, still recovering from the shock of what I viewed.

Ok, I've got my bearings now & have a question. How rare is this stuff?

  • How rare is the stuff that you got to see or how rare is the stuff you experienced prior? I'm guessing both are pretty common.

It's almost a certainty that there were some 1991 Donruss Studio in that bunch.

  • Wow Im not surprised he was guarding that stuff with his Life and his shotgun, Donruss 91 is super amazinf, valuble and Rair(not) and the topps 88 must be one of the best prodcuts ever produced(When I say best I mean Overproduced) but a great story nonetheless

    Thanks for the laugh

  • my guess is he's just trying to distract you from what truly valuable Texan commodity exists beneath that tarp.

You should have told him his card were worth between 2-3 million. And to guard them with his life.....
  • You wanted to throw up... and I did, right after I read 1991 Donruss.

Ron, Congrats on a great find! If you can get it cheap enough, there is quite a big profit margin. I know in New England...the price of tarps skyrocketed after hurricane Irene.

    I'm interested in the shotgun.
  • Dibs on the tarp. Were there any rips in it?

Based on the title of this thread, I wasn't if you were headed down the path of a Penthouse letters story...

Damn, I was ready to make a great tarp joke, but then I noticed that two people beat me to it. I gotta get up earlier tomorrow.
  • When you mentioned the shotgun, I thought maybe he wanted to see you about his daughter. image
