Quick stupid question
I am looking at a 1853 Seated Liberty dollar in XF 45. In the grading section it has MS "4" "12" and "40" are those the same? Never heard of MS 4.
Sorry for the stupid question...just curious. Thanks!

<< <i>so an XF45 on the charts here would equal an MS45? Thanks! >>
That is correct.
Hence XF-45 is the correct terminology although we can figure out and translate MS-45.
.
it is a good point. not to call circ business strike coins MS.
on the other end of the spectrum the PR circ coins are referred to as PR55, PR40 etc? correct?
.
.
could it be possible to have a true MS 45? A coin so badly beaten but still an unc that it drops well below 60?
phew, what a coin that would be!
