Uncirculated Mint Sets Pricing

I am just wondering about these sets and how pricing is determined. I am just confused when I see pricing for a 1995 set in the coin dealer newsletter go for 5.25 when the issue date was 8.00. On top of that it seems at some point around 2005 these sets were around 25. Prices have come down on most of these and yet over the years you would think many are broken up. Can the experts shed some light on these why the price goes up, down and the only one making money on them is the HSN. I just bought a big box of them and paid less then bid just because the guy wanted to get rid of them. I understand they are not a good investment but just could not refuse. Oh and I just picked a random set 1995 to pick on with about 1 million mintage but this is about all the sets.

I have listed sets on eBay that I could not get face value out of by the time I paid the fees and shipping.

Speaking of your ex-wives again, or the reason the pricing on the mint sets are different from their issue price?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
and dealers need to liquidate their holdings. Also keep in mind that post-1994 proof sets have
never really been hit with price decreases as more come on the market. This was always nor-
mal for all the older sets because they were overbought and as more become available the
price tanked. This process was interrupted by the states quarter program which caused more
demand to materialize for recent date sets which absorbed the excess and prevented the price
decline. Now they've all been hit at once.
The early mint sets (pre-1978) have held up pretty well because attrition has already decreased
their numbers so much that they can't come on the market in vvery large numbers in just the
three years of the great recession. Some of the later date mint sets have held up because of
lower mintages. The earlier proof sets have held up better as well which is probably indicative
of the attrition on them as well.
