I think I see split serfis, but you really need to zoom in more, I need to see the individual atoms! image

Just an opinion of mine, but I don't think so. Just curious... what's the coin?

I would say no. It looks like a jiggle in the die when the coin was struck, not a doubled die.

But, yea, the photography is great. image

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I'm on the fence with this one....but even if it was a double die I can't imagine there being a premium for it because thats what, 200x magnification? JMO

I think your photos are great and I, for one, think this is a dd or a td. From me the split serifs on the tail of the R and on the right side of the T confirm it.

I'm in the machine doubling camp. But cool blue arrows!

Great pics, but not a doubled die.
Die bounce/chatter or strike doubled for short.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

image I think that Washington Quarter or Prez Dollar has a bit of DDR but may not have much of a premium. Most collector like to see it with a 10x mag to pay a Premium. But a cool coin.image

IMO, the R and A look convincingly enough to be a Doubled Die.

However, there is also Machine Doubling on the coin which makes attribution difficult.

Perhaps better photography would be more revealing with regard to the actual doubling.

What I mean by that is that simply zooming in most times only reveals specific serif doubling but a slight tilting of the coin in the light might reveal other telltale signs of doubling.

    It's all in the lighting.

<< <i>How about this if you can't see it, then it isn't, even though it could beimage >>

This is an accurate assessment for some new die researchers in that folks who have little experience (I'm not saying the OP is of little experience since I don't know him from Adam but the mere act of asking does offer some clues) tend to "visualize" instead of actually "see". I'm just as guilty as the next guy as I have many, many coins that were purchased because "I" could see doubling. That didn't mean that there was doubling though. (Which there wasn't)

I learned several years back that if I had to visualize it, then it probably isn't there.

However, one of the OP's photo's does show what appears to be a split serif on the R. Knowing what the coin is would make an assessment a little bit easier since some coins have a tendency to strike up a certain way which gives the appearance of doubling. There are also many coins that have Master Die doubling which is usually only visible with a strong strike.

I'd still like to see some better photography which is aimed at highlighting the areas in question instead of simply zooming in to the molecular level.

<< <i>I m amazed just didn't think a minor infantismal one counted. If you need a super magged photo to barely see something it shouldn't then be of any importance. If it is then it is in your own minds I'm afraid....sorry I just can't see this being anything of substance......aside from splitting hairs.image >>

    Another good assessment Al.

Some of these varieties have importance to die specialists as one type of variety could point to another more substantial possibility. Just look at the 2009 DDR Lincolns. That first one reported kicked off a whole lot of searching and die discovery.

BTW, those follow up photographs shopw a lot more than the initial photographs. Thanks and Congrats.

I vote no and concur that if there is something there it is so minor as to make it's finding a moot point image

The tripling is there plain as day!! While it may not be a highly collected TDO it is still there. There are thousands of ddo's and tdo's in the lincoln series and most of them are so minute many here would claim irrelevance. Yet there are collectors who collect them.
