I'm in the Baltimore area and I see Irene has her sights set on the Mid-Atlantic too.
I have pulled out all of my flashlights, candles, and batteries.
This one looks to be a major weather event for the east coast.
And to think I was worried about my Dad in Delray Beach, FL in Palm Beach County!!

I live in the Hartford CT area, we took in our outdoor items earlier today. Went to the store and stocked up on food and water. Filled up the generator with gas and filled up my extra gas cans. Overall we are in good shape, hoping to not see to much damage occur this far inland. I do remember Gloria back in 85, this area had significant damage with large scale power outages, hope Irene is less intense. Good luck to everyone in Irene's path, stay safe. To keep this on topic I did finally purchase a 1999 Silver Proof Set earlier today on flea-bay (136.50).

I live on the shore in MD (thus the name)...I know it sounds shallow but I have 11,000+ numismatic references in the path of the storm, some extremely rare, and some really heavy bookcases too close to windows. My family comes first but I will sneak in a prayer for the library. We did the flashlights, batteries, water, food...yada yada stuff. I'm shutting down all the electronic systems at work early tomorrow and getting them up in the air and then I'll debate trying to move some of my stacks.

I'm in Northern Virginia. I'm actually considering getting my sets out of the SDB and bringing them home but haven't made up my mind yet...

I am in Southern Maryland (St. Mary's county) and just the normal precautions, lots of batteries, a food plan and will fill the bathtub with water for flushing (I am in the country and we have a well, with an electric pump). On the other hand, I have underground utilities and I am half a mile from the firehouse and they ALWAYS get their power back first. I anticipate a minor electrical outage.

However, I also have a chain saw as I live on a knoll surrounded by 80 ft trees. The good news is the water runs off and I will be dry, but you never know about trees. You just have to have a plan and be ready.

I have to get home to get ready. I am in Knoxville Tn on business. Headed home to the south shore of Long Island. My wife bought some water and I am bringing flashlights from here. She said the stores are bare. Please say a prayer as there are alot of people in harms way.

I live 100 miles west of landfall, been threw a couple in my lifetime, dont think this one will be as bad as a few in the past. (mainyl becuase its too far east) The weather conditions will deteriorate here early sat am with 40-55 mph winds and heavy rain. Debating on whether to open on sat at htis point. Also, there is a local coin show here this weekend as well?

I will just get rain and likely some heavy winds.... The present 'cone' has me on the western edge. No special preparations here... well, I am usually prepared for two weeks of trouble, but nothing beyond that. Cheers, RickO

I live in the direct path, Portsmouth, VA., on the southern branch of the Elizabeth river, this is what my yard looked like during our last noreaster. Tidel surge then was 8'. I was within 6" of having water soak the joists under the house. Irenes surge is expected to be 5'-7'.

this is my place in the Sandbridge are of Virginia Beach, evacuation is now in effect.

I hope it's still there sunday morning

Just spent the day boarding and taping windows on the house. 20 miles west of Atlantic City. Hopefully this does not get ugly. My wishes and prayers go out to everyone in harms way!

Bel Air, MD. Gassed up all the vehicles tonight (in case electricity goes out). Got some charcoal and propane for the grill and camp stove. Picked up a couple cases of water and some non-pershable food. Will be moving most of the yard stuff into the garage tomorrow morning. We're about 10 miles from the Chesapeake Bay, quite a bit further from the eastern shore. Expect rain and 30-40 mph wind here, hope OC is still around on Monday. Take care if you are in a flood area. Very sad what happened in Pittsburgh receltly.

I live in Atlantic City. Haven't boarded up the windows but have moved a lot of stuff into interior rooms of the house before I evacuate. Thankfully, I live on the second floor so flood damage is not much of a concern. I was supposed to have already evacuated according to authorities but I am waiting till after midnight to avoid all the traffic. Hell, the storm is still almost 24 hours away from NJ.

My birthday is Sunday so I am going to tell everyone who asks that Irene blew me on my birthday. I hope my roof is still here when I get back on Monday.
