Just in from PCGS, one of the finest toned Ikes on the Planet!!!

I know the Ike series isn't all together popular and may never be with the masses but between varieties and some of the toned examples out there folks might just find something that interests them. I think most of us have seen James Sego's Registry set and I have no doubt he has seen or owned most of the finest toned and untoned pieces in existance image This coin isn't the finest example as James has better but it's got to be one of the nicest out their in terms of overall eye appeal and rainbow toning. Yes this is a silver example which means they do tone more readily than their clad counterparts but I think one would have to search a long long time to find one as nice as this so I was happy to get it run though the sniffer as part of the secure plus service. This coin was purchased several years ago raw on Ebay and I paid a strong price for it then considering it was a raw Ike on Ebay but I just knew it was something special even in the sub par sellers pictures.

So please share in my excitement and post an Ike....toned, untoned, proof or MS...whatever you have!!! image (Except James as he will blow me away) image

I'd sure bid strong money for it! MS67 and all!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Well, Shane this is the only one I have:

Classic Dansco toning. Not a stunner but Ike did sustain some fingerprintage when the guy who owned this at one time placed it in the Dansco.

I think this is the only slabbed Ike I own. The coin is not toned but the ring has turned colors. I hope this will work for my contribution to the thread.

Very pretty coin and likely to wind up in very strong hands. Take a long look...may not see it for a long time again.

I have to admit I prefer this kind of toning over the toning in the OP, even though that coin is still very nice.

Someone finally explained "eye appeal" to me. Now I get it.

I always consider Ikes, while not ugly, to be a boring coin. Not any more.

    Snatcharoooooooooooooooooooo.... !!

I cannot get over how sweet the fields look. Hardly a luster graze (1-1.5 minor ones) and there's a lot of real estate there.

Melvin, your holder is my pick of the lot. As much as I enjoy spectacularly toned Ikes (one of Andy's will be on the cover of our "Special Edition"), the perfect harmony of your holder is the perfect frame for a gorgeous "original" silver Ike. Rob

I think that coin floated around the ANA show. It was pretty, but not $1250 pretty.

The coin did not float around the ANA show, I had the coin graded for Shane since he could not attend. I showed it to you and only you and I did so only because I was asked by Shane.

It is so very difficult to place a price on coins of this color

and quality. While I did not pay 1250, who is to say that

    1500 - 2000 would not be fair as well as 700 - 900. I can

not remember ever seing an Ike with this high grade,

smooth face and amazing toning in a security holder. If one can

not replace a coin with its specific characteristics of beauty, then

what price is considered fair and just. It is an interesting question

and certainly one worthy of enlightened discussion.

I have always believed, that the amount of time expended in

the search for such a coin must play a role in its pricing. I just

checked with my alien coin dealer on Pluto, He has never seen another

such coin in this quadrant of the Milkey Way Gallaxy. Did you all know

that Milkey Way Candy Bars are made in the Miley Way Gallaxy?

The Silver Eagles seem far more available in great toning. However,

I have found nice Ikes in quality high grade and wonderful color are

extremely difficult to locate. Always have been and always will be.
