It is definetely a DDO but not "THE DDO" You can see the split serifs and doubling on IGWT.

The 1969-S that is worth $8000 has very pronounced doubling like the 1955. The coin in this auction unfortunately is not that variety.--Bob

Not the famous DDO and definitely not worth what he's asking for it. Appears there is a scammer at work here.

Yes you are all correct....definetely not the DDO.... NOT THE BIG ONE..... but

It is a doubled die and not strike doubling, I offered him $5 but I doubt he will accept and I would gladly pay up to $20 for it.

Clearly die doubling, but not the very rare variety.

  • At least he provides decent closeups. If someone buys it thinking it's the big one then it's their own stupidity.

Finally someone agrees with me. It is only worth a few dollars and the seller is out to scam someone.

It just irritates me that people start spouting off about doubled dies and mechanical doubling when more often then not they are incorrect.

CONECA shows two DDOs listed for the date. I remember when the second one was discovered a few years back and I don't think the coin in the OP is that variety either. It could be a new doubled die, as I do see some notching on the bottom of the numbers in the date and on LIBERTY. Whatever it is, it's not worth anything close to $8,000.

There is a DDO-002 for 1969S, which has minor doubling on the date only, worth $50 or so.
