For those who like 50-64 CAM/DCAM proofs, Cameonut has a treat for you.

I just finished looking at pics of Cameonut's 50-64 proof sets that he has been working on putting on the Registry. He gave me an advanced look and I expect that the pics will be available to the masses soon (if not already).

For those who want to check out examples of CAM and DCAM coins of the 50-64 era, all I can say is sit down, hang on to your knickers and get ready to have your socks blown off. Even if these coins are not your cup of tea, they definitely blow the typical brilliant proofs away.

I will be the first to give Cameonut a big YOU SUCKimage

    Cameonut,

Great job on the display of coins. I like the comparability of the coins given the similar photo parameters.

    Super DCams there.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I recently finished the TrueView photos and I think Phil did a great job. They look pretty good in the new Registry format.

It has been fun putting the set together over the past 18 years. I will say that is much harder to find nice cameos these days compared to the early '90's! I have lots of stories about finding raw cameos in sets (and a variety or two), maybe someday I'll write them all down. I have experienced the thrill of the hunt - and best of all - the rare find. It is what keeps me going to coin shows.

Sweet coins Nut, I've yet to find a cameo from the 50's or 60's, out of all the proof sets I've purchased over the years. Are there any left?

    TTT.

I wonder if Cameonut has any simialr coins dated 1965-1970 that he would care to add to his portfolio of pictures. Then of course there is his Icon coin, which is quite nice in its own right (even though it is dated 1971)image

Nice to see you were able to find many of them in proof sets yourself. Is finding them raw more fun than buying them pre-graded? image

I like the 1950 proof set in all cam. That had to be hard to find.

You betcha! I think the most I paid for any proof set with a cameo in it was 'ask' or 'ask plus ten percent'. Most sets were purchased at bid or below. At those prices, it becomes very lucrative. One of my best finds is the '53 Jefferson in 67dcam purchased in a set at bid. There are many more examples.

But when it comes to the current proofs (from about 1977 to date) I elected to buy most of those at dirt cheap prices from a variety of sources. These tend to be castoffs from the guys that are trying to make 70dcams. They end up with boxes of 69dcams and will sell them very cheap.

And to answer Sanction's question: Yes, I have an example of every proof from 1965 to present in every denomination (yes, even Ikes). All in cameo, most in dcam - the only non-dcam exceptions are a few of the SMS pieces from 65-67.

BTW, my icon is a 71-s quarter found in a proof set and purchased for less than $5. It looks like a first strike off new dies and graded PF69dcam. As Marty or Russ would say: Cha Ching. For those that think that monster 71-s quarters in high grade are easy to make, PM me if you have a PCGS 69dcams for sale. (I am not worried about getting many PM's) image

TTT, for the educational benefit if Darth5oh since his grandfather's collection has many, many proof sets in it. Maybe he will get lucky and find some DCAMs in the sets.

Also, another tip of the hat to our own Cameonut for his beautiful 50-64 CAMDCAM pictured coins.

Also, I was motivated to bring this to the top since today I met Skyman at the small Fremont show and he showed me a large number of high grade slabbed PCGS and NCG CAM and DCAM Frankies and silver Kennedies. Beautiful coins he has.

While looking at past threads I found this one.

Thought I would send it to the top so that Cameonut's registry set of 1950-1964 proof coins can be viewed by those who have seen it before and by those who have not.

Very eye appealing and so much better than the run of the mill brilliant proofs.

Very nice, well matched set! The 1959 Franklin is one of my favorites, as well as the cams from the early '50s! A wonderful accomplishment!

Do you have a cam or dcam '56 type 1 Franklin or '64 AH?
