BelOMO 10x Triplet Loupe Magnifier

I just received this magnifier today and wanted to give everyone a heads up.

The BelOMO loupe is in my opinion a great value with large field of view that compares to the best.

It has improved my observations of coin surfaces.

It was $38.00 including shipping from amateur.geologist.auctions on ebay.

If it's the same Russian BelOMO 35mm camera manufacture then I strongly feel the quality is worse the USA, Japan, and German optics.

It's a highly corrected triplet loupe and the lenses are coated. I have one and it's excellent quality for the price. They are made in Belarus by the company that originally made the optics for their cruse missile guidance systems.

Which would you recommend and how much?

I haven't seen many USA optics since I was an armored officer thirty years ago, unfortunately they broke frequently.

I have a Belomo 7x and it is a very decent lens., but there are better. I have used a Zeiss 3-6-9 and the Eschenbach 3-6-9. I prefer
the zeiss, but not by much. The best 5x is offered by surplusshed. It has 4 lenses and is flat and corrected with a very wide field at around $40.

I have used many different loupes and believe Zeiss to be the best. Eschenbach is also an excellent loupe. I would only buy those two brands for quality glass. Cheers, RickO

I have one and I like it, although I mostly use my B&L 5x Packette.

No offense to the guys who like the German magnifying glasses, but almost all of the professional numismatists I know use the B&L 5x. I've always thought it was pretty funny that the guys who know the most use one of the least expensive magnifying glasses!

I'm to the point where the most critical piece of equipment for me is a lanyard. I spend more time looking for the loupe than I do looking through it.

How does this one compare in quality to the Bausch and Lomb triplet? Since they are pretty close in price.

Never tried the B&L triplet but I'm still using the Belomo in my original post and love it.
