is a bit touchy. If one is merely clarifying or expanding understanding ,of certain aspects
of grading a coin in a certain series, then it is probably OK. However I would be careful not
to walk over that invisible , but always present, line in the sand.
the various FH characteristics from weak to Ultra but all these are legitimate FH designations.
I have written on my own techniques for evaluating a coin. My standards may be stricter, equal
to or less then what is the grading norm for a particular TPG. However, my feeling is, let the TPG
grade the coin and I will decide if I want to buy the coin or not. That way, we are both happy and
no body gets their nose out of joint.

Regarding grading. I am not looking for that. I am looking for a basic introduction into grading coins for new collectors.
Maybe I should have made clearer in my original post
I would just like to gather a few articles on beginning grading

PCGS has a strong internal grading culture, buttressed by the feedback their grader's receive from re-grades. Take the time to figure out their grading culture for the Series most important to you, compare PCGS grades with the other major TPG's and you'll be on your way to buying coins and not tags.
PCGS also takes you into their grading room via video so you can easily duplicate a PCGS "grading station" in yoiur home. Now you're really cookin'.
Books, articles, photos all help but nothing, NOTHING, compares to wobbling coin after coin after coin under a hooded incandescent light-bulb.
IMHO, unless one is unusually gifted, it takes a year or two of practice to begin to learn how to overcome your brain's programming and insistance on "seeing" what it has seen before, what it expects to see, and what it wants to see. With those barriers to grading under control, look-out! You could wind up earning a good income as a TPG grader. . . Rob

How to Succeed in Numismatic Publishing (By Really Trying).
“Scratch the surface of the average hobbyist,” says Whitman publisher Dennis Tucker,
“and chances are you’ll find someone who loves to read; you might even find a writer
underneath, or an author, or both.” Working in the publishing industry, Tucker gets asked
plenty of questions about how to break into print—how to go from unpublished amateur
writer to honest-to-goodness capital-A “Author.” There’s no magic ticket to becoming
a famous writer, but this Numismatic Theatre presentation will map out a path to get
you started.
Dennis Tucker is an active collector of coins, tokens, and medals. His professional background
is in corporate and nonprofit communications, marketing, public relations, and publishing.
Whitman has released more than 100 numismatic books under his tenure as publisher,
including the popular Bowers Series, several award-winning encyclopedias, and recent
forays into DVD, e-book, and other digital formats. Friday, August 19, at 10:00 p.m.
in Room #3.
