They are rare, but encased halves and quarters are even rarer. Mose people wanted a cheap giveaway and used cents. If they wanted to impress, they used a dollar.

Most of the encased silver dollars seem to be from Buick. They ran a promotion somewhere around the mid-century point (1940s-1960s or so), and must have put out a gazillion of them. Unlike yours, they have a brass ring. They typically sell in the $50-100 range. That one, being "not Buick" would probably be a bit more. There is a custom registry set ATS with other examples.

As CaptHenway says, quarters and halves are also rare. As with the silver dollars from Buick, I seem to remember one or two main promotions that account for most of the encased quarters and halves. There are two completed listings on eBay with encased quarters from American Savings

I was hoping for a Type B but bought it anyway. I think this was at the 2010 January FUN show.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Nice dollar and quarter! As mentioned by others, they seem to be fairly rare in quarter and higher denominations. I've seen some Frankies but overall, the higher denominations seem to be few and far between.

Honorable mention for good effort to LaFoe! imageimage
