Why wanna be coin dealers drink Part MMCM

MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 39,740 ✭✭✭✭✭
sell two PR69DCAM first spouses on eBay.

Proof is in the title and description, plus there are pictures.

they are paid for and are enroute, then guy asks if they are proofs or uncirculated. I tell him proofs and describe the difference.

then later he receives them and says I shouldn't have stacked the slabs, shouldn't have put the slabs in a plastic grocery store vegatable bag and said he might be returning them because:
On one of the coins on the lower left side of Mrs. Lincoln's face and directly above the 16, there appears to be a hairline, perhaps within the slab.

So, he goes on to say:
Depending on the PR 70 that I ordered at the time that I ordered yours I may have to return both your coins. I will know in a few days and hope to be able to keep at least one of yours.

PS: the guy didn't buy an PR70 version. He bought another PR69 version from someone else and paid $100 more than mine.

Not my first baffling customer, but my first baffling coin customer.

the basic rub is the guy didn't know what he's buying and now seems to be wanting to return one or both because the slabs are scratched. (the coins are fine)

Do you have a return policy? If so, ignore the reason and just take the coins back. I would block this guy for the future though.

    We can go further:
When you deal, prepare for trouble...

Or distill and refine a bit more:
    Prepare for trouble...

Or, really get to the essence:

    Agree!

Do not refund the shipping in either direction.

If he wanted 70's he shoulda bought 70's since there are plenty available. Get ready to reply to his feedback though.

Lot's of folks don't seem to understand that refund shipping on an item purchased on eBay is a sellers option since the money is spent with a third party and the last time I checked, the USPS does not issue refunds.
