You can make a small profit selling unopened P pucks to some dealers, can't say the same for the ASEs

It is the perfect set up for higher values down the road. The $60 is a big hit now, so many will not buy them.......then bingo, low mintage. Down the road for those who really want one, $60 may seem cheap.

The mint needs to revisit their pricing on these......

Considering proof ASE's are currently trading at around $60 the US mint prices aren't too bad.

I agree. $60 for one direct from the mint really is not that bad of a price. Especially considering that should silver continue its rise, selling these for $100+ is not out of the realm of possibility.

I'm actually kind of hoping that folks turn their noses up at these.

Considering that shouldn't be part of how the mint prices the units.

Back when silver was $4.30 an ounce (March 2001) these were selling from the US Mint for $24.00 ea. so their markup really hasn't changed a whole lot.

Keeping in mind that the price of silver is not corrected every week like the price of gold. It could go down or it could shoot back up to $45/oz.

What was the price of silver when the mint locked the price? I don't think it was just last week, so no "week to week" pricing needed on that...
The price of actual striking, and all the other odds and ends, have gone up, but not near the same % as silver has.

It's nice that folks will pay whatever the mint asks and not question it. Sorry that, while I support the mint pricing on some things, I don't for other things where it is obvious that they are jacking folks.

Folks are willing to pay 340-350 for these sealed....

Anyways, the premium is not so bad. Like 19lyds says....they used to charge $24 when spot was $4. That's 6x spot price. At $60, that's less than 2x spot. And they are a numismatic.

I'm in for a few. 2x spot price isn't too bad, imo, and if silver rebounds to $50/oz these will go for $100 each.

Probably not I, however I herd of someone who did quite well buying 100 2010-Ws for $45.95 each, and selling them at @88 each.

FWIW, last year these were priced at $45.95, while spot was at around $27-$28 (November 2010).

I wonder how they price these? Projected spot prices? Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, just pulling prices out of their butts.

Unless you are drinking the FS Kool-aide the time to buy these is in the fall when you have a better idea of mintages.

Other time would be when PMs spike and you can catch them just before a repricing..............

All 5 of mine came today. I think they are good looking coins, and make good gifts for a few people on my Christmas list. I make sure to point out to the wife that I'm doing early X-mas shopping too image
