What should be done with coins like this // Poll

in U.S. Coin Forum
They are part of put together mint sets, in case your wondering the quarters look great but the rest are not so great.

I can be 99% sure they are NT, I know others may and likely will feel otherwise.

    I think they are lovely and would either keep them or sell them raw on the BST.

    Because of the toning and good photos I think they would do very well on eBay for what they are. People go crazy for crayola coins.

    They look NT to me, sell them on the BST, someone who has colorful roosies will like them as part of their set. Nice pics BTW---------------BigE

    Whats with the details on the reverse ? Usually when i see the bands so worn on the torch so is the rest of the coin , is this just what they call a mushy strike ?

    Thank you I always enjoy feedback on my photographs.

    If your wondering how I can be so sure that they are NT.

    They would have had to been doctored ~20 years ago or before because they could not have been touched after that.

    I think they'd look great next to all my colorful ones in my Dansco!

    Agree. Nice but realistically they are not worth slabbing.

    I am as far from an expert as one could be and still use this forum but....

    I believe the strike quality was a large issue for the years following the crossover from silver to clad, something about excessive die wear and strike pressure.

    If the coin was AU all those nice flow lines would be impaired.

    I love the toning but coins that aren't silver or gold just don't appeal to me image

    I'm not the expert on this, but if those are SMS dimes, they are from the last ones struck. The die erosion and lack of detail makes me think this. The toning is the best I've seen on clad - really nice! In my opinion, you should slab them yourself with some Coin World slabs, or else keep them in the original sets. Since the original sets don't represent a huge capital investment, I'd probably save them as is.

    All they have going for them is the toning. The 1966 dime is a piece with typical die fatigue. Neither is worth the price of certification, but you might be able to get someone to pay a small premium for them because of the color.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Very nice color for clad coinage. I would sell them raw. Let the colors do the talking instead of the plastic slab.

    Thanks for all the feedback thus far, sadly it has only confused me more.

    No idea what I should do, I have received PM's expressing interest in them but I do not have a clue how to price something like this....


    I guess I will think about it more.

    try a reverse auction on the BST: start them at like $30 apiece, and drop the price a dollar a day until they sell.

    my guess is they'll move in 2-3 weeks but might do so right away image

    I have a feeling it may be best do just sit on them, its stuff like this were it may be worth 30$ now but could be worth more latter.

    Its not like I need and extra $60.

    Make sure you wear some clothing when you sit on them.

    dimes are small and you can lose them in the funniest places.
