Based on a forty hour week, that is 744 coins per hour or 12.4 coins per minute. No idea how many graders they have... image Cheers, RickO

    Lance,

That's what I was thinking as well.

I wonder if shows come into play there? If a bunch of folks were at Baltimore, or FUN, I would expect gradings 'back home' to slow down, but that doesn't appear to be reflected in the turnaround times.

When was the mega Morgan submission? I think that may have skewed the numbers.

Late April, early May. Those have long been through the system
  • Funny that economy says 27 days. It's now been 31 working days for mine when you remove Memorial Day. They said 25 days when it was submitted, it was 29 days a week ago, and now 27 days? No matter which numbers you go by, mine are LATE!!

My express submission took 11 working days, just got grades yesterday. Those numbers are not accurate.

Since they seem to update those numbers at least weekly, it would sure be nice if they cared enough about their customers to accurately report them. Otherwise, why post them? Why not just say they'll be done when they're done and leave it at that? I lose all respect for a business that feels it needs to manipulate numbers like that. I mean, its only a few days, it's not a huge deal. But my thought process has always been that if a business whose entire structure is based on integrity can overtly manipulate something so minutely unimportant that we can all easily back-check, what else are they manipulating that we can't? Causes me worries about everything else going on. I am no conspiracy theorist, but I believe that integrity and forthrightness should be paramount in all aspects of a business whose reputation rests so heavily on their word.

I would bet that 75% of them are moderns that take minimal time/effort to grade. Or bulk orders to be placed in "BU" holders.

Guys, when we post turnaround days that doesn't mean that every order is going to be done in that many days.

Most orders will be done in less, some will take longer. It's a safe bet that over 90% will be done in the number we publish.

Our clock starts when the order is entered. Usually that is one day after receiving, sometimes it could be longer.

Shampine - first of all your comments are at a minimum presumptuous and insulting. Secondly, I tried to look up your submission but there is nothing inhouse under the name Shampine. So exactly who are you?

    Mr Willis,

I would like to publicly post that I have PMed you a private explanation of my statement. So as no one misunderstands my intentions, I was not trying to bash PCGS or their integrity. I was questioning the accuracy of a miniscule detail involving submissions. My coins were submitted with a friend who regularly submits when he sent in a few of his own coins.

I presumed nothing and I am sorry if you found my comments insulting, I meant them more as constructive criticism. I had hope the "powers that be" would possibly see my statement and take it as constructive criticism, offering to make changes in the direction of accuracy for the benefit of all collectors. Certainly I'm not the only person who's shared these sentiments with you? As I said in my reply to you, I understand that turnaround times are estimates only. It's been my observation in conversation with other loyal collectors of PCGS coins that those estimated times tend to be shorter than what many experience. Is it really a fact that 90% of submitted coins are done in the number of days you publish? If that is a fact, then I am absolutely 100% wrong in my observations and I respectfully apologize with the utmost sincerity and there is nothing to fix.
