Opinions on 1917-D Type 1 Standing Liberty

Opinions on whether this 1917-D Type 1 Standing Liberty is worth submitting for grading? Full head or not?

Can someone give instructions on how to insert photos? For larger jpegs, is Photobucket required?

    My guess would be cleaned, not a FH. And since you know it's genuine and a TY1, I wouldn't bother submitting it. It's still a beautiful coin that I would be proud to have in my collection.

    Money, if it does not bring you happiness, will at least help you be miserable in comfort.

    I guess that depends on your intent.....are you building a set of certified AU standing quarters and need this date for your set? If so, it may be worth submitting, as it looks like the dipping is not too bad and the TPG's will likely grade it AU-something. On the other hand, if your intent is to sell it, the slab may make it a little more marketable, but you need to consider how much you already got in it, cost to submit, etc.

    I agree completely with Walkerguy.........

    Probably AU50, cleaned. Maybe a FH, hard to tell from the pic. The wear on the ear is apparent, but there is still an "ear hole" and the hairbands are apparent but worn.

    Definitely depends on your reason for submission!!!

    AU55-58; not quite a full head. Possibly cleaned.

    I appreciate your comments and advice.

    It was originally graded in the late 80's/early 90's by ANACS with a consensus grade of AU55. The Luster, Eye Appeal and Strike got 55's, with the Surface getting a 50.

    I just wanted to see if it was worth slabbing for safekeeping. It was a gift from my wife about 20 years ago, so I am not interested in selling it.

    The SLQ is one of my favorite designs. Why it hasn't been reused is a mystery to me.
