Gettysburg AU58DMPL

Recently had 5 oz. silvers graded. 2 came back as SP67 (Yellowstone & Hot Springs), 1 as MS64PL (Glacier) and 1 as AU58DMPL (Gettysburg). My question is how can a coin be graded as almost un-circulated as the coins were just recently released?

I thought this thread was about an AU58DMPL Gettysburg classic commemorative! imageimage

Edited to add: Even though the coins were just minted, the workers could have rubbed the coin against other coins during packaging.

Large/any DMPL fields show contact very easily. PCGS might have been a little hard on a contact patch that was played up by the mirrors

It's possible the coin encountered a lot of friction somewhere in the packaging process... enough for graders to call it a 58, but I think it's more likely that it was graded 68 DMPL, and someone incorrectly entered it into the system.

I think this is probaly what happened also. A review might be needed here.

Wow! Have they started the "everyman" category on the regstiry for these yet??? image

If they ever do, your AU58DMPL really will be worth as much as an MS69DMPL!!

Put it up for SALE ASAP!!! Get your moon money then go buy a 69DMPL really cheap that is already slabbed. That's what I would do.

so it's AU, which is a circulated grade......does that mean that this was spent in commerce at it's face value of 25c image (would love to see the clerk at walmart try to fit that in his or her cash register)

If you saw the video showing how these things were made, you'd be surprised more don't grade AU. On the bright side, you have the inside track on top "everyman" set of hockey pucks.
