You know, stagecoach robberies, train heists, good old bank jobs, Tommy guns and dynamite vs. safes.
I'm thinking Gold would be kind of susceptible to that sort of history. Whether knowing it or not, I'm sure it exists in all manner of private collections. If coins could talk.

When I pay my ex-wives in gold, they can have their coins slabbed with the pedigree "The LaFoe Ex-Wives Heist Whoard"!
<< <i>Interesting idea.... maybe some metal detecting cache hunters would have such coins... although only the foolish would talk about it. Cheers, RickO >>
i agree, thats something that i wouldnt want to talk about either. matter of opinion
dug up a bag with 80 silver dollars. Buried about a foot down is all and in a bag that was just tatters. But, the
coins were undamaged and very nice. No Peace, all Morgans from '04 and earlier. No keys.
He popped them out with a large dozer.
Crazily he shared them with the other guys on the job (4 total men). Pretty cool.

<< <i>Has any coin ever been pedigreed to a heist? I've never noticed any. >>
Although not specifically provenanced, I have good reason to believe that the Mohawk Valley Hoard may have been just such. NCS news article - Mohawk Valley Hoard

<< <i>When a large satchel of cash was discovered in the woods of the Pacific Northwest from the D. B. Cooper airline hijacking ransom, much of it was just fragments but they were slabbed by one of the paper money grading companies with the D. B. Cooper pedigree on the label. >>
Weren't some of the Lindbergh kidnapping notes also slabbed? Okay, not a heist, but a close cousin.

Don't know but something like that would certainly be of historical interest.
