I went to ebay to see about selling some silver and decided to check their fees before I began. It’s been over 2 years sense I used them last and could not believe what I read. 9% final value fee? It use to be 5%, maximum of 100.00...are they joking? It use to be 35.00. Not to mention almost a buck for insertion fees that use to be .45 cents.
I will never use them again. I have 879 100% positive feedback and they can have it all back.
I can’t believe people are still using these guys. If I sold a 1 oz bar of silver for 50.00 it will cost... almost 5.00 for the final value, .75 cent to listing fee then another 5.00 for PayPal. That’s almost 11.00 off a 50.00 item. There NUTS!

Accurate Ebay Fee Calculator
I have calculated that final valuation fees are cheapest if you do a Buy it Now on everything between $120-$2850 and auction style for everything else.

are way to high
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

I will gladly pay you the $50, plus the $5, + the .75 cent and $5 payPoo for a 10 oz silver bar, PM your payPoo address please.
Don't forget the % they get on your shipping charges.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
<< <i>see if this agrees with your calculations. It has always been correct to the penney for me:

Fantastic info!!
You have a HUGE audience as a seller.
Flame away
<< <i>I still consider their fees to be rather reasonable. >>
Perhpas if you have a discount. Sans discount, they are too high. I think that with the current fee-hike trajectory they will rapidly reach the point of deminishing returns. The sellers will dry up.
One slaps on the hand for rant that doesn’t work.
The easiest to see this on is the paypal fee. For $50, it is not $5.00. I believe that, for the majority of us, paypal is $0.30+2.9%. So, for $50 that would be ($0.30+$1.45) $1.75
Still not great, but $1.75<$5.00 by a good amount.
Rant threads are SOOOO much better if facts are correct first
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Many successful BST transactions with dozens of board members, references on request.
<< <i>Don't forget paypal. I sold some low cost items recently. Sold 2 liberty nickles for .99 cents. Paypal took .43 cents. Gotta love em.... >>
That's a real downside,it can end up costing a seller to sell low priced items.More so when delivery confirmation comes into play.

I had some interesting foreign gold, bullion really that could have gone for a premium.
However, after figuring fees, paypal, and dealing with possible scammers it was more profitable to sell to a local dealer for melt.
I get a 20% Discount on my Final Value fee's and can list upto 12 pictures for free.
I fully agree that their fee's are on the outreageous side especially when it's coupled with the PayPal 2.9%+.30 fee's and the fact that they will shortly be charging FVF Fee's against the seller's shipping charge.
It'll take me a year or so but I'll eventually stop using them altogether as I suspect that lot's of other folks will.
They seem to think they are NOT an Auction House when it comes to "legal" questions but fully believe they ARE an Auction House when it comes to fee's.
Eventually, they'll fail just like everyother Smarty Pants Big Bucks Internet Outfit has in the past. (Think AOL.)
The name is LEE!
8.75% of the initial $50.00, plus 4.0% of the next $50.01 - $1,000.00, plus 2.0% of the remaining final sale price
The 9% flat rate is a killer for regular sellers.
<< <i>I was rounding up and was sill close at around 4.70 based on a 50.00 item. Not to mention the insertion fee, shipping fee and another 4.70 for paypal. That comes very close to 10.00 off your 50.00 item. In other words if you were selling a ASE at 43.00 it would cost you around 8.00. Why would anyone want to take 34-35.00 for for an ASE. Even at todays spot prices your under spot no matter how look at it! >>
Paypal even at the 2.9% rate is about $1.50, not $4.70
add in your fees..............
<< <i>10 oz of silver for $50 - what am i missing here? >>
The number "3".
