I know this is somewhat OT, but now that summer is upon us, hopefully many of us will be taking time off for vacations or just having some fun away from our daily routines. So I thought it would be great to see what you other coin people like to do when you're not working or enjoying your coins.
For me, when I'm not traveling all over the country buying and selling coins, I love spending time outdoors either white water rafting, offroading in Glamis, or boating in Lake Havasu (where we were this past weekend).

Immature Red-Shouldered Hawk eating a Banded Water Snake in Florida
Hiked the Jungles of Costa Rica - Followed 4 Troops of Monkey through the jungle for 2 Weeks. No Electricity, no hot water, carrying a 75 pound pack 12 hours per day and sleeping under a mosquito net at night. I mostly go to dangerous places, put myself in dangerous situations and photograph really cool creatures. I did a very similar 3 Week Amazon Rainforest Trip where I helped capture the Second Most Toxic Spider in the World...among other things!

Only about 300 exist. A lot of fun photographing them.

The Goonies!!!!
I was there before...that rock (I forget the name offhand but I am sure many know it) is the same one shown where the pirate ship, with all the gold and coins and jewelry, comes out of at the end of the Goonies!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

That is the one.....Haystack Rock....can also be seen in the film Kindergarten Cop with the former governor of California.

DNADave, I haven't rafted those rivers, I'll have to give them a try! We've mostly rafted California rivers like the Kawea that runs through Sequoia National Park, Tuolome which runs through Yosemite, and of course the American River that runs by Sutters Mill but one of the best trips I took was a 5-day wilderness trip on the Middlefork of the Salmon in Idaho - I liked it so much, I did it again 15 years later with my kids!
Keyman, those are the most stunning photos of critters I've ever seen - you have a great gift! That dragonfly is so amazing in detail and color - thanks for sharing them!

Just last week I was in AZ. for a Spacefest. Had fun shootin' the sh1t with a few guys you might recognize.
I also like to go hiking, fishing and to the beach in the summer. Here's some cliff jumping on the MA. coast...

Yea...I'm guessin it was a little hot out that day...
If you haven't been, be sure to drive south and visit Cape Kiwanda - the monolith there rivals Haystack, and you can climb the giant 200' dune and cliffs and have a spectacular view of the ocean crashing on gorgeous, yellow and orange rocks. And eat some squeaky cheese at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
When I want a beach vacation I head way south - to Bandon (and the surrounding beaches)- which is my favorite stretch of beach in the country - just stunning. Sea stacks. Monoliths. Sea lions. And nowhere near the crowds of Cannon Beach.

Could you imagine slinging around the trees and bumping against trees all day! And yes, it was in the 90s and quite humid.

Panther, I have seen you/your buggy out there as well - it is indeed a small world! We'll be back out there in October, perhaps we can find each other out there.
Errors, I do know that many people die each year doing each of the things I enjoy, and especially whitewater rafting - but rest assured, I have been whitewater rafting mostly class 4 and 5 rapids for over 25 years, and we have had the raft flip and gotten dumped several times, and once our raft ended up highsided against a large boulder where we were stranded until we finally were able to wedge the raft out from under the pounding water so we could quickly jump back in before it sped away without us - but I still find whitewater rafting quite exhilarating and exciting!

at the top of the list in my younger days. Most fun, and most dangerous, was body rafting (that's river rafting without the raft)
the Shutes on T he S. Platte west of Denver. Just you, your suit, and tennis shoes in a slot canyon that in not raftable. But,
can be done without the raft and fun as hell!
Boating on L. Powell and L. Mead. Owned a 60' houseboat on Powell (Halls Crossing) called the Analgesia (Pain killer). Sunning,
drinking, swimming, skiing and ******** dipping. Ah, the life.
Skiing in Colorado in the winter. A Basin and Breckenridge were my favorites. Loved Cat Dancer (triple black diamond) on the back
side of A Basin. Moguls taller than a mans head and could break a lot of your bones if you were not capable.
Did enjoy Heavenly at Tahoe and the gunbarrel was a blast (if you could stop before hitting the parked cars).
Enjoy kids, as someday you will be all crippled up like me! But it was worth every scrape, pain and cut and bruise and would do it
over again in a NY Minute.

Looks like you almost covered most of the florida keys. Family always gets a kick out of the key deer when they come to visit, for those of you who dont know key deer are about the size of a medium dog. The iguana are all over here, they are wild looking when bright orange.
