I always find it a little odd when a store puts its cards on the registy. Isn't the registry for collections....not store inventory?
<< <i>Right now he's got 10 (ten) 1952 Mantles in inventory...I think if I owned ten 1952 Mantles, I'd be a really nice guy as well. LOL >>
I think if I owned 10 mantles and had been trying to sell those same 10 mantles for the past 3 years, I might google the words "inventory turnover" and "cash flow."
Then I'd probably put on a hat, eat a bowl of Grape Nuts, crank up the Dire Straits, log onto eBay, and decline all best offers received the day before.

Fine. Then let him put up his personal collection on the registry. There is nothing there under his name on the Mantle registry- Its 707 Sportscards, his business. If all of his cards are for sale, then its not a personal collection. Its akin to the owner of the local auto dealership bragging to his friends at the country club about how many BMW's he owns.

And, even if that is true, as long as he does not link his registry from ebay, or make mention of it on the registry (with prices and comments) what's the big deal?
I've sold plenty of cards on ebay that were still listed on the registry. They sell, I remove them.
I guess the real point I should be making is why all the jealously when it comes to this guy?
It's his prices are too high and now it's how he uses the registry.

I don't know Levi and I don't harbor any ill will toward the guy at all. My comments are general in nature. The point I was trying to make earlier is that its odd for a large dealer to reflect their inventory in the registry. Its wierd on 2 levels - First its extremely difficult for any private collector to compete with a business who finances their inventory with lines of credit etc. etc. The registry is for private collections, not businesses. Second- If a business is using the registry, its very likely that they are doing so because its a cheap way to get FREE advertising for thier business. Its already been established here that Levi uses the same name on his registry as he does for his business. His ebay handle even matches the name of his registry. If I'm only the person that finds that troubling, so be it. I find it to be very spammish.

Mac I was replying to the above quote. Someone, (Griffens) had already mentioned he was a collector also.
Your above quote implies that levi has put his inventory on the registry. Is it possible that he has his collection AND
store inventory, with only the collection on the registry? That is why I asked if he had all 10 52 Mantles on the registry.
If he had, then your quote would have been somewhat accurate.
I have cards in my registry and everyone is for sale (at the right price)
One last point, his store and his registry names may be similar, they are in fact different.
Edited: His Ebay name is different, his website is the same. Just like many other collector/dealers.
I stand corrected. (At one time I thought his website was also www.707sportscards.com)
<< <i>Fine. Then let him put up his personal collection on the registry. >>
I believe that he has. I do not believe that any of his store inventory is on the registry.
Like me and many others I'd think that he too would sell any card for the right price, but we would have to ask him.
I believe that was To Tell The Truth.
