Don't take a Ford or Chevy to a Ferrari dealer to get repaired. You won't like the price of the repair.
Don't take a Ferrari to a Ford or Chevy dealer to get repaired. Your Ferrari might never run again. but what the heck the price would be cheap. >>

I don't understand this... If I want to buy a PSAx why should I over pay to buy from 707? How is this like comparing a Ford to Ferrari - it's the same PSA card in the same grade. Some of you guys must really really really like Levi. Personally I have never met him - all I know he has crazy BIN prices that are normally priced 2 grades higher than their current grade. I'm all for being able to sell your cards at whatever price point you sell at, and I'm not questioning his business model but for me I just pass right on by when I see his 707 watermarked images.

I almost think the better analogy would be he tries to sell his Ford's like they are Ferrari's. >>

LOL ( I like your analogy)

my analogy wasn't really a good analogy to the conversation. with that being said.

I would rather buy off an established proven business with good customer service & knowledge of what they are selling and stand behind what they sell. then buy something off someone to save a few bucks who doesn't have these qualities, plus not all PSA XX are the same quality, as was stated earlier in this thread someone bought a PSA 2 Pafko off levi cracked it out and resubmitted it and it came back a PSA 4.

if 2 established quality dealers have the same item and I trust both of them , then yes I am going to buy the one that is cheapest or the one that is the easiest on my wallet.

there is a store near me that has item X for 8.00 and then there is another store 3 miles farther away from me that has item X for 9.00, I always go to the store that charges 9.00,why? just because I just don't like the store near me, but that's me.

Levi's business model works for him and that is great for him and if you don't like his price that is fine too.
everyone can buy or sell at whatever price they want to. I hope everyone has a good day and gets the card s they want.

Just got hit with a bunch of his auctions on my eBay searches. Someone indicated they have a way to block the auctions. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

I recently sold a 1953 Topps Mantle PSA 5 for $1325. Nicely centerered, good looking card. Levi has the same card in the same grade. I believe he is asking $1,875 for his. If you offered him $1,500, he would without a doubt, turn you down. I don't see how he sells anything. I enjoy reading the posts, and it has taught me to understand and appreciate how he prices things so high. I do know that if I were to buy gas, and one seller has it for $3.70 a gallon, and another seller has his gas for $6.25 a gallon, I would buy from the $3.70 a gallon seller and the $6.25 a gallon seller would likely get hit with a fine from the federal government for price gouging. Not that any of this makes any sense.....I am just rambling......

I think this question will make more sense.....If you are at The National and there are fabulous cards everywhere, why would anyone buy from 707 when they can hold and inspect all the cards they want and then purchase for much cheaper?

Just to add.....Levi is the dollar store compared to Deans cards.

At the National Levi will have some cards no other dealer will have or cards in certain grades no one else will have. These are the only reason why I can fathom why someone would overpay him. I get the fact if you are doing a set and money is no object and you just want it.

Also I will overpay if the example is nice for the grade but I won't overpay at his levels.

I don't mind Levi and he is very fun to talk to but his little buyer/helper guy can go pound sand.

He insulted me with his offer on some cards and told me how terrible they were for the grade at the same time. Levi due to volumn has some of the most overgraded cards out there as well so he shouldn't throw stones.

..and don't forget, he is not the ONLY seller doing that. All those 'yep' sellers are outrageous. They would have a card with a VCP average of $20, and find some sucker, er....I mean customer, to pay them $200. I have seen this for a fact (1952 Berk Ross - check 'em out on VCP). I don't know who takes the cake more...them for gouging the people like that, or the people who actually pay their bloated prices.

All I know is Levi is going to be stuck with a sh$t trove of cardboard when the world ends on October 21.

I've long since stopped following any of his stuff--I just filter his offerings out of each my searches. None of it is rare enough that you'll never see it again--and each time I've waited, I've saved serious dough.

His stuff is very overpriced, crappy for the grade, and sits up on eBay endlessly--at least the cards I've been looking for in the past. Personally, I'm not willing to shell out a $500 premium on a $1,000 card that is low for the grade just because Levi's a nice man with a cool hat who gives good phone chat. That's probably only worth $53 or $54 dollars to me. $58 if he has a nice laugh.

But, to each his own. Best of luck to him and his business model.

I'd probably pay an extra $200 bones if he sang Tom Sawyer in his best Geddy Lee voice while playing the air bass. <

Since I am an old school collector I have dealt with Levi often as he usually has that hard to find last cards I am looking for.I know I am paying more than I should. You are better off dealing with him on his website than on Ebay as you can usually wiggle a few bucks off his price on his website. His Ebay price are off the wall and his best offer deals are usually declined and still over priced. He does have great service.I plan on stopping at his booth at the National.

You are dead on with that. Peart worships Moon and if he worships him so should I. Too bad I was too young to see him play.

No. That would be you. I was just speaking with sarcasm about 707. So what if I sell a Mantle PSA 5 for $500 and he sells the same card in a PSA 3 for $900. More power to him!!!! I think ALL Ebay sellers would LOVE to have that kind of charm, pull, luck, whatever you want to call it. You my friend, seem to do nothing but throw stones however. I just call 'em like I see 'em buddy.
