I haven't seen or heard of any clips on any of the FY or shield cents, in fact the latest date in my collection is 2008. Over the last ten years the Mint has gotten extremely good at filtering out error coins before they leave Mint control. With the shift to ballistic bags and the tightened controls over the companies that process coins for release into commerce, there are very few errors making it into collectors hands.

"...ballistic bags..."????? Sean, what are these? I have not seen that term before. Cheers, RickO

Ballistic bags are for circulating coinage Rick, they are huge kevlar type bags that hold $10,000's worth of dollars, halves and what not. There is a thread about them here, but they weigh several tons when filled then they are stacked and sent to Brinks and what not.
