Good news. Coins and divorce

I'm dangerously close to getting all things finished here and the only step left is just to go downtown and agree and sign. And I'm purposely holding off until my daughter is out of school. I don't want to cause any turmoil on that front. Already tough enough on the kid.

My advice to you guys is to get married in Japan. All I have to do is pay to this one out of my house and into another house among a few other things I've agreed to. Heck there isn't even child support here except when agreed upon and even then if mommy accepts it she loses all manner of benefits from Japan.

No mention was made of my coin collection at all so I can keep it all.

Now the bad news. Probably going to cost 10K or so to get her moved and me moved. I may fund this by selling some stuff. Haven't decided yet. Normally I'd sell a few gold eagles but I want to hold the gold. Probably dump some of my Sacagawea oddities.

Anyway I'm coming out of this well. And excited. Got the next ex wife lined up as well although much to my relief we decided we'd continue as is for a couple years and make sure. I'm super relieved as I figured she wanted to marry the second I got divorced. Talked to her and she was fearing the same thing. Was pretty comical actually. Both of us had an OMG I'll do it if that's what the other wants but was dreading it.

I told her I needed to remember what it was like to be single first. Advice to all men listening. Don't say that out loud. It is guaranteed to get misinterpreted.

Good to see you keep the coins.

Even if that is the case I still hope you provide child support as needed.

Isn't there an old saying about making the same mistakes and expecting different outcomes? Applies to women, right?

"Money does not care about speeches on morality. Capital asks whether the rules will remain the same tomorrow. With inflation, people assume price is the problem, and propose regulation—but price is simply the message." - Martin Armstrong

FWIW, don`t rush to get married a second time. Enjoy the freedom of being single and soak it in; IT`S NICE.image

Fortunately, it's been 21 that I've been married to and in love with the same, amazing woman, with three healthy, smart, respectful teenagers (okay, as respectful as teenagers can be!) image

Sorry to hear about your turmoil, John. Child support should be a moot point since any caring father knows he needs to support his kids no matter what the situation.

    Edited for the right emoticon...

I am sorry that you are having to go through the process, whether you were the cause or she. I would burn my coins if my wife were divorce me for any selfish reason (I do not cheat and take care of my wife). If I can't enjoy the coins then no one will! JMHO.

If I showed you her pic you guys would go nuts and stop talking about coins.

Just a reminder to all. I was (am) married to a local Japanese gal. The rules are way different here. Suffice to say it's a male dominant society. The gals (with kids) basically get taken care of by the state. Nearly free subsidized housing, free medical, a monthly check, etc.

Divorce is nothing like it is in the states. Nothing. Can literally go downtown and get divorced in less than 5 minutes here. Just show up to the right office and say you're filing for divorce and you're done soon as they stamp a piece of paper. Worst case you go to a mediator. The judges and red tape are for the superstars and CEO's. Normal folk transition easy. The single women are taken care of. Society just accepts that as a cost here. Man works, makes all the money, man gets new younger shinier woman, tosses old the government accepts the cost.

I'm not saying that is right, wrong, or indifferent but I am saying that is the way it is in Japan.
