Dear PCGS,

When you slab a coin genuine please indicate Proof or Business strike.

And dont tell me that you do, because mostly you do not.

Thank you!

Doesn't the PCGS # indicate if it's a business or proof strike?

    yeah...

also, if you go for that level of detail, you may as well go all out and ask for details grading, too.

I really wish that PCGS had gone that route. Just like the old slabs that spelled out what the problem was and what they thought is should be netted at.
But it might be too late to get that horse back in the barn.

I do agree with the OP. He used the good word: PLEASE

    What's wrong with:

    Genuine Proof Strike
    or
    Genuine Business Strike

A lot of folks do not have access to the PCGS numbers and when selling it would certainly
    remove any questions.

I've seen them do this on coins where it's hard to tell proof vs. business strike. Like on matte proof Lincoln Cents.

...in a very non-obvious way for someone looking at the coin and slab itself.

Any genuine Proof coin is labeled with "Proof" on the label. They did not do this for the first few months of the Genuine program, but they do now.

    Coolest -

If you have a Proof coin in a Genuine holder and the insert does not say Proof you can have it corrected by sending the coin in as a "Mechanical Error".

We will fix it free of charge.

Of course you could have found that out by calling Customer Service.

And I am telling you that we do, because we do.

Don has a point -- nearly anything like this should be taken care of without posting on these boards.
However, in the defense of the OP, I was unaware that this was not always the case with Genuine
holders, so this is an education issue for some of us. Glad to see that it is resolved.
