Precious metal "small change".... 1 grain gold and 5 grain silver rounds

What are your opinions of these novelty items:

Kinda cool, but would be better if they were marked. And, of course, at smaller premiums image

1 grain = 1/480 troy oz.

    I like the idea...but not this specific product. I think that if JM, Engelhard, Pamp, or Credit manufactured these.....with micro stamping to indicate weight and fineness, and hallmark...they would be very successful if premiums were kept to a minimum. But at $1500 gold, these things are worth about 3 bucks apiece. At just $4 each....if made by a major refiner.....they would be a decent deal for both consumer, as well as the manufacturer ( thats $1,900/oz).

    Like the OP said, it's a novelty item. I wouldn't consider it as a serious bullion investment and I certainly wouldn't buy any.

    I'd steer clear of them. However, those hexagonal ingots below them sure are fine.

    I think Gecko is unto something ...i could see myself paying 5 bucks each if it came from JM or pamp ...I would actually buy a few for gifts etc.

    Stick with 1/10 to 1 oz gold,

    and 1 oz to 10 oz silver bars, rounds and coins.

    I'm not surprised they are selling , sometimes its easy to lose sight of the fact not everybody has a couple hundred bucks to spend on a tenth of gold or a few silver rounds.Ive always bought the 1/10ths as the lowest weight i'll buy but i now realise the 1/20th's carry the biggest premium of all , so in the world of PM's bigger isnt always better maybe.

    I bought a grain bar on the bay, thinking it was a gram bar...image

    A while back I put in a low ball bid(reading gram) and couldn't believe I had no other bidders, I won and then the light came on....image

    Agree but I also like the 1 Kilo silver bars.

    I hope these are in some kind of sealed holder because they would be really easy to lose otherwise.
