The reasons I do give-aways here.

As most of you know, I've done a few give-aways here in the last couple of years. For the most part they seem to be really well-received with everyone here having a good time and someone walking away with a cool coin. Of course, there are also a few who get mad, stomp around, and say I'm only spammig my auctions. I understand this. There's no doubt that the page views I get with a give-away can influence an "outside" bidder, giving him pause about just how strongly he should bid. In that respect, call it spam if you wish.
But let's be honest here. The guys who are going to buy the kind of material I'm selling on ebay already know my auctions are running and are already watching. And they know what my items are worth. I'm rarely off by more than a few percentage points on the final hamme price. In other words, these guys know what they're doing and don't need a give-away for find my auctions.
I'm not looking for potential buyers here. What I'm looking for is this......a message from last night's winner:
I just wanted to let you know that this fulfills a kind of a lifelong dream. When I was a kid, a CC coin was as much of a holy grail for me as a SVDB penny. As a 10 year old, I always dreamed of owning one, but never thought I would. Fast forward about 30 years, and now that I can afford one, my collecting interests took me to other series and I never got around to actually getting one. So, your contest may just have re-kindled that fire in me. I certainly spent some time reading into the GSA sale and I learned quite a few things I didn't already know. As far as opening it, my gut tells me to keep it sealed and enjoy the mystery, but I'll certainly let everyone know if I have a change of heart and open it.
This is what coin collecting is all about....having fun. And if my give-away can ignite the GSA CC fire in just one collector, I'm happy.
Thanks All!!

Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
You are among that 10%.
Don't sweat the small stuff or those who have a cheap two cents to add.
....someday, maybe, someone will actually have a contest I win though. I'm zero for eternity. Hell, even Barry (yes Barry!) has won a contest. Seesh!!!
Gsaguy, It is not spam, it is creative and thoughtful promotion. Nothing wrong with that at all. I am glad to see that your winners are very appreciative of your efforts. More power to you.

<< <i>because the copy you write for each coin you auction is extremely informative. >>

I wonder if these same complainers didn't go trick or treating when they were kids because they thought they might have to say thank you?

This forum can always use a nice give-away.

As always, I get permission before I do things. Mom raised some ugly kids, but not stupid ones.
Thanks all. It was a fun give-away and when I decide to auction the next really special coin, I'll do another.
I look forward to the next offering!
