United States Fugio Copper Coinage of 1787 by Eric P. Newman. It has wonderful photos in color and lots of great information.
The bad news is the book is not that big, and it cost me $125.00.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I agree, that's the most up to date reference. The old reference by Alan Kessler was long out-of-print and bringing up to $350 in the rare book market...it should have dropped since Newman came out.

The Kessler book is $350.00 !!!!Somebody is out of their mind.
I've had a copy of that for years, and I think I paid less than $20 for it.

It's always best to have a few references around. In addition to the Newman and Kessler books, I suggest you get a copy of the catalog for Stack's John J. Ford Collection Part I. It has about 48 pages devoted to Fugios with great descriptions and many color plates. The catalog states that there are 87 regular issue Fugios in the collection that include 40 different varieties.
