Need help conducting a possible controversial experiment

ajmanajman Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭
I have in my possesion (1) 2004 Nevada state quarter in BU condition. I want to try the infamous Taco Bell napkin AT experiment. Basically what I want to know is, how many wraps or how many ply's of the paper do I need to wrap the coin in before I set it onto a window sill for the next 12-24 months?

I wonder how (or if) a clad will tone in a TB napkin?

It will tone in a week if it is a used Taco Bell napkin . image

Well if they do tone and you don't like the way they came out,
you can always use the taco sauce to clean them image

Tabasco gets the same result and much faster. Also rinses off better.

Be my guest, but results were always connected to 90% coin silver, lightly dipped to remove any oils, dirt, grime, coatings, then wrapped in just one napkin, folded over and over, tucking in the ends as you folded. Placed on a window sill that catches the suns light between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM CST.

Note: Daylight Savings Time moves the toning clock forward 1 hour.

Clads tone some better than others.

Ive had a morgan dollar freshly dipped 2 years ago well wrapped and have changed the taco bell napkin twice. The colors are well developed, with a golden tone blending into a periphery of blue. Very Nice.

Does NOT work quickly, and I think the silver needs to be chemically clean when first wrapped (no fingerprints, oils etc etc, freshly dipped in cyanide)

    What's controversial about this?
  • If we are going to sponsor a proper experiment other napkins must be included like KFC, McDonalds, and In-N-Out Burger.

We must find the optimum napkin for color.

You should do a very quick version of this with the 5oz rounds then quickly send them in for grading...I'm sure they will pass as NT! image

Right. And when you are done with said experiment, will you be better positioned to become a coin doctor or not?

Why would you want to tone a counterfeit? And why would a counterfeiter produce a fake
two years before it was released?

weird for sure...can't answer you question.

As an experiment, let me recommend you get more quarters.

I suppose if I did the experiment ( I haven't done it yet nor am I sure that I'm going to) then I'd be better positioned to be a coin doctor. But now I'm having mixed thoughts about it and am nixing the whole idea.

Wrong answer. You should have said, "I need to do this so I can better detect AT and educate myself" image
