How do you feel about your also-ran coins?

Presumably, you've selected coins for your collection based on how much they appeal to you. You like all of your coins.
But now that we have stickers and pluses and stars (oh my!), how do you feel about your coins that were not deemed worthy of this extra affirmation?
Do you have coins that you submitted but that did not receive a sticker or + or star?
Do these also-ran coins still appeal to you?

I like some of my coins a lot more than others. Opinions change with time and greater experience and exposure.
I don't do stickers, and consider a plus (or a star) nice but non-essential to enjoyment of an exceptional coin.
My own opinion is the most important to me at the end of the day.
The answer to your final question would be a resounding yes.
I still look at the coins the same way...wondering why the heck they aren't in 67+FB Holders. I look at myself as an idiot trying to play the registry game though. I doubt I will do that again. They appeal to me the exact same way. I would not change my purchase decisions because I think they are beautiful for their grade...if I ever go to sell them in 20-30 years I might send them back to get little green stickers assuming that service still exists. The market will price them for what they are just as when I bought them at auction...darn near plus money.

Having said that, I will change the focus of my collection from time to time, and I will either neglect or sell the coins that do not fit in with the new focus.

The collector's opinion of his/her also-ran coins is an interesting topic, to me anyway.
That opinion will effect the market in some as yet unforseen way.
Will the status of these coins compared to other coins in your collection weigh on your mind until you eventually sell them?
Are you more willing to sell these coins at a loss?
Are you willing to resubmit these coins repeatedly until you're convinced they have no shot at a sticker, plus or star?
Are you content with your original opinion of the coin regardless of the lack of extra affirmation?
Do you collect coins that are so specialized/esoteric that these extra affirmations are meaningless to you?
I would never sell a perfectly decent coin that was not CAC-worthy on the basis of being overgraded. In fact, I have knowingly purchased coins that I felt were overgraded and will continue to do so, so long as they fit my collection and the price is right.
Most aren't CAC'd or plussed or starred. I bought them before that was the rave. Occasionally I ask my self if I shouldn't regrade everything, and/or ship them to JA. And then I get distracted by something new.
Lance.
To me there would be huge value-added in the service if they'd give you a line or two telling you why your coin "isn't C@C"- not because I want to argue but because I want to learn.
Why all the fuss? In another 10-15 years or so, the TPGs will roll out yet another grade (++, perhaps?) and maybe I will have my coins regraded at that time. But not now--I have seen more than a few 'also-ran' coins in top-tier slabs with fancy designations and stickers. I'll wait and see what the future brings.

I am not concerned about the holder, or whether the coin has a sticker or plus, etc. I've seen enough coins to know that people grade coins, and that people make mistakes.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
They did not sticker and I agreed that they should not have stickered. They were very low end for the grade or even overgraded.
They infiltrated my collection over a 25 year period as part of sets I purchased so I acquired a few bad with the good I picked up.
It happens.
One of the major exception is a coin (shown below) I picked up a while back. It is simply awesome but it did not sticker because of that single big bag mark in the field. The toning spot was not considered a negative because after all, it was a circulated coin! LOL.
The experience taught me that I had purchased many coins that were properly graded but were low end for the grade.
So far I have not resubmitted any coins for a + grade.
All those that did not sticker I have since sold. I am happy with the thinned out remainder.
