Opinions wanted on this Isabella 25c

I'm trying to put together a set of well circulated classic US commemorative halves. There is a coin on eBay I am interested in. The seller says he doesn't think it is cleaned. I'm thinking it is. Any thoughts? TIA.

    Toolhaus...complaints of cleaning, whizzing...etc. long list. Sty away IMHO. 40 Negatives & Neutrals plus 11 withdrawn. Mentions of overgrading and so on.

    You can do much better by exercising patience. Not an attractive coin. Looks almost not real.

    I vote Fake. The letters should not be that fat, and why does it still have a sharp wire rim with so much wear?

    Whether it's fake or not I have no idea why anyone would pay $291.00 for an Isabella quarter in that low of a grade when EF coins carry a Gray Sheet value of $350.00. Given the fact that the "old" commemorative silver series is a dead as a hammer, I would think you could pick up a decent example for not much more than $350.00.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    image to both and the hair bun is too big.

    Edited to add: Think my pattern-recognition wetware is on the fritz. Bun looks OK. Bezel accounts for rims (perhaps).

    40 complaints with over 37,000 positive transactions... That's not too bad at all. Especially given all the nutjobs on eBay.

    That particular specimen does not look original to me, and I have bought some decent specimens from that seller, notwithstanding his reputation here. You have to learn to interpret his scans. And that Izzy has been on his site/and ebay rotation for quite some time.

    You have to throw out price guides when trying to accomplish what you are doing, without going too crazy, but don't listen to me.

    I bought this one raw from ebay in auction 2008, (and sold it about 2 weeks ago image ):

    Like others have said, be patient. Check TT and Heritage as well. There are some midgrade ones out there. I would say no more than a year or two wait, and for the right price.
    Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.

    My thoughts are that it is real and that it has been in a benzel to get that type of wear. If you look at the reeded edge in the pics there doesn't appear to be any wear.
