If you had 20 rolls of buff nickels (or more)

what would you do with them?

seriously, I think that dateless buff nickels are marketable. They are a consumable used in handmade jewelry.

Far from dateless, though some are I suppose.

I would sort them by grade and sell them by the roll on the BST forum.

Sell them if you don't need them or keep them if you need them just don't spend them. Did that help image

PS: What does a worn Buff go for now? Say a 1938-D in VF. image

Now, that's a great use for them and one I hadn't heard of. Those old mechanical one-armed bandits were made to run on Buff's and V's using them again would be a great complement to your machine.

Sell the best 40 of 'em here or on eBay and have fun with the semi-culls by spending them in stores, vending machines, kids' lemonade stands, etc. so perhaps young, non-collectors will have the thrill of discovering them and even become numismatists one day. image

  • I thought about as a joke getting a Whitman folder and filling it with dateless Buffalos, with the dates wrote trek with a Sharpee marker. Overdates would be written literally--"1918/7" for example.

Are these rolls with or without dates?

I agree, one needs a lot more information about the composition of the lot.

If they're mostly ave circ. late date or dateless coins, roll em up and ebay em, maybe spend a few for fun, maybe nik a date a few dateless but mintmarked coins, also for fun.

If well-mixed, possibly assemble a partial set of the best ones, separate any coins with dates or grades worth more than bulk, then do above plan with the rest.
