Are there Dealers who still are still whizzing coins?

  If money can be made from it then clearly people will continue to do it, if you chose to call these people coin dealers then that is up to you.

  They are still doing it; it's just that the process is a bit more subtle. One of things that really get me about the “luster thing” and grading is the attraction that some collectors have for coins that shine in their face. Yes, a wonderful P-L coin is fun to view, but a piece that has been worked on to get or “restore” the shine is not for a lot of collectors. Yet you see pieces that have been worked on be the most popular sellers and at times the pieces with higher grades. It’s not the way it should, but if it brings more, people will shine up the coins.
  
  As one old time dealer-collector I know puts it, “Sometimes you just want to buy something to keep it out of the hands of the coin doctors.”
  

  Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

  I have seen a few Franklins in the last couple of years that were whizzed on a small area of the coin - to remove surface PVC damage
